I was reading up on robshot's (and doom9's) guide on getting the most out of CCE. The guide deals with using CCE to create a backup of a dvd to put onto dvd-r. My question is this: Can this guide be used to make an svcd? Is it possible to 'get the most out of cce' and make an svcd? Thanks.

Take a look at this thread where all your questions will be answered. I myself use this method to create SVCDs. ALthough if you cant eliminate the grey areas even after using the max bitrate theres nothing u can do bout it. But even then the quality is much better than say TMPG with same no of passes and the same bitrate settings.

It works very well for SVCD. But, like psp_3 says, you have to set the average bitrate based on the number of CD-Rs you want (usually 2-3) rather than aiming for minimal filesize. Just follow it up to the point where you would start going through the file changing the average bitrate, but instead set it to the highest you can get away with (with SVCD you never want to leave any open space on your discs).
