I'm not sure what I've done to screw up my playback for OGG containers, but it's screwed. From my tests, it appears that new OGG containers with AC3 streams just stall out. You press play, and the movie stays frozen at 00:00:00.000. In the past, switching to another AC3 stream would unfreeze the movie, then you could switch back and continue watching. This method now leads to a crash within 2 seconds of playback. With my new encodes, that is.

I encoded Gladiator last week with a Dolby 5.1 and a Dolby 2.0 track, and chapters. For some reason that works even now, as does Amistad, also two audio tracks, chapters, plus two subtitles.

Oh, one other thing. The encodes from last week were using DivX 5.0 and no psychovisual enhancements. The newest encodes are using DivX 5.01 and psychovisual enhancements set to normal. Here's a step-by-step of my process:

Smartripper

DVD2AVI

Gordian Knot

Jonny's comptest 1.02 (frontend for DivX 5 comp tests in GKnot)

Jonny's divx5enc_1_02 (frontend for Virtualdub), B-frames, GMC, Psycho @ normal

Nandub to mux the AVI with the AC3 streams, 2 frames interleave, 500ms preload, delay as indicated by DVD2AVI

OggMux 0.8.4 to mux the chapters and subtitles with the AVI/AC3 file and wrap it into OGG container

Disable VobSub and Ogg subtitle filter so OggCut can work without DS conflicts

OggCut 1.0.0.0 to cut the OGG container at 695 megs

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm hoping it's a simple thing, like the newest OggDS filters are incompatible with DivX 5.01 or psychovisuals or something.

I'd appreciate any help on this matter :)

oh jeez, I forgot that I had ffdshow installed. That was causing the problem. I uninstalled it, now things are back to normal. My bad.
