Encoding in cbr is easy for me. However, one and multi pass vbr are not; I don't know what numbers to use. :scared: Any help on this and quality settings are especially helpful...

The settings depend on what kind of quality you want at the end. I only use 1-pass to create the *.vaf file needed for multipass. For the 1-pass, I use a Q of 40, min 1500 and max 3000, because my multipass VBR values will be min 1500, max 3000, and average 2400-2600. The average birate is calculated in FitCD and the range came from the lowest quality I was prepared to accept (a bitrate of 1500) and the maximum rate my standalone DVD player (Apex 1500) seemed capable of handling comfortably. I don't fiddle with the advanced settings usually (as per Robshot method - search forum). I usually do 3 passes in multipass, which makes a total of 4 passes altogether. Slow but good quality.
