I need some help with the VCDXBuilder XML.
OK, here's what I was trying to do:
I want to join the "Legally Blonde" Movie with its Bonus material on the DVD. After reading the @markb reply that we cannot do this with DVD2SVCD, I was very disappointed. BUT i didn't loose hope. I really thank @markb for helping me that THE BONUS MATERIAL MAY NOT BE FILM type. I wanted to rip the "Pefact Day song" from the Bonus material and also the "DELETEC SCENES" from the Bonus material beside the movie.
First I downloaded the "Bearson's Bitrate Calculator" from DOOM9 website. Then checked the total time (Movie + song + deleted scenes) I want to encode. Using this tool, I found the bitrate, I have to use to encode the movie based on my selection of number of disc and audio rate. I choose, 224Kbps for audio and 2Cds. Since by default, 1CDs was 650 MB so I changed that value to 1590MB instead of 1600 MB (I am using 80 mins CDs) just for some buffer. I got the bitrate of 1600 approx.
Then, I ripped and converted the song only with D2S into a "H:\Legally Blonde\Song" folder. I opted not to delete file in D2S since I have ample space to do this experiment This is very important). Also, I set everything to what do for my any other movie rip in D2S except the following:
*Set the Max. Avg bitrate to 1600.
*One thing I have to make sure for this song rip was that I have to choose IVTC instead of automatic as chossing automatic resulted in horizontal scan line on my PC. So, I ripped the song again with IVTC this time and everything went perfact. I have all the files including the BIN/CUE.
Then, I ripped the DELETED SCENES into the folder "H:\Legally Blonde\Extra". Again, I opted not to deleted any files. I set everything to what do for my any other movie rip in D2S except the following:
* Set the MAX. Avg. bitrate to 1550 (just keeping more space for the movie) as deleted scene picture wasn't that good already.
*Also I set IVTC as I knew that bonus disc is not FILM and D2S doesn't activate IVTC if I choose automatic ('coz of my above experience by ripping the song)
Then, I checked the file size of both the ripped song and the deleted scene. I mean the bbmpeg_muxed files. The total size (bbmpeg_muxed of Song + Deleted scene) was 160 MB. Now, I know that I have 1430MB in all to rip this DVD (Read above, I want everything in 2CDs so, I have 1600MB but I kept a 10 MB buffer that leaves me 1590MB. I already have 160MB of files, so that leaves me 1590 - 160 = 1430 MB). Then I calculated the bit rate again with "Bearson's Bitrate Calculator" by specifying the 224 Kbps for audio and 1430MB for disc space. I got 1800kps for encoding.
Then I ripped the whole movie into the folder "H:\Legally Blonde". I set the following option in D2S:
* Max. Avg. Bitrate 1775
* Do not delete any files.
* Create a Title picture for the movie but don't put CD Change Image.
This resulted into 2CDs. The first CDs is fully used and the second CDs have space to add more content.
Now, my aim was HOW TO PUT EVERYTHING TOGETHER SO THAT IT WORKS WITH SELECTABLE SUBTITLES AND PBC CONTROL? Keep in mind that I ripped the movie with subtitles (CVD) and I opted to create PBC DVD Selection for all three above.
This is what I am doing and I need small help from you guys.
I opened the "VCDXBuild_Script_1.xml" and "VCDXBuild_Script_2.xml" from the "H:\Legally Blonde" folder. Read the "manual.pdf" in the "DVD2SVCD\VCDImager" folder. Also went to the VCDImager website at http://www.vcdimager.org for some help. After understanding the XML, I copied the "VCDXBuild_Script_2.xml" into "H:\Temp" folder and saved this XML file as "AMIT.XML". I am not pasting the whole XML files here as they are too big, but I am pasting the relevant parts here.

If you see above, I have created a new "sequence-item" for every file, I want to put on my 2nd CD. Since, I was modifying the "VCDXBuild_Script_2.xml" I already have the "VCDXBuild_Script_1.xml" from the folder "H:\Legally Blonde\Song" and pasted the following into "AMIT.XML"

BUT SEE THE DIFFERENCE, I CHANGED THE SEQUENCE NUMBER TO THE NEXT NUMBER AND ALSO I CHANGED THE "entry-chapt-01" FOR THE ENTRY TAG TO "entry-chapt-13" WHICH THE NEXT CHAPTER I WANTED.
I repeated the same procedure for deleted scenes. I mean copying the relevant information and then changing the sequence number and also the chapter numbers. The final file at this point looks like above besides having rest of the information as it was in "VCDXBuild_Script_2.xml" created by D2S for the movie (this the file for 2nd CD).
Then, I moved forward with the following changes:

I have changed the "next" tag value. Since, the next Chapter which in my case is Chapter 13 is now from a different file, so I changed the "play-item ref" value to my sequence id.

Now I gave the following command into the DOS windows of W2K
D:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\VCDImager>VCDXBuild.exe --verbose --cue-file="H:\Temp\CD_Image_File_CD2.cue" --bin-file="H:\Temp\CD_Image_File_CD2.bin" "H:\Temp\VCDXBuild_Script_2.xml"
This resulted into a CUE/BIN file in my H:\Temp folder.
I then burned this file onto CDRW and tested with my APEX 1500 standalone player. What's happening now is that when I press the next button my remote, the player taxes me to the next file instead of the next chapter. EG I start the movie by pressing ENTER and after few min. I press the ">| " NEXT button and I directly jump to the "PERFACT DAY" song PRESS NEXT again and I am into "DELETED SCENES".
What I want is when I press the NEXT button, I move a chapter instead of moving a file? Any idea what change is required in the XML file?
Other than that everything works great... I WISH WE A NEW FEATURE IN THE NEXT RELEASE WHERE U CAN COMBINE THE MOVIE AND BONUS MATERIAL AND I DON'T HAVE TO DO THE CALCULATIONA DN THEN CHANGING THE XML AND CREATING THE BIN/CUE AGAIN ....
