I 'm trying to encode divx/ac3 NTSCFilm to DVD ready mpeg2. I had every thinkable combination in TMPGENC, pulldown on playback, interlace with pulldown activated in the advanced tab etc. I also tried encoding to NTSCFilm and later use pulldown.exe. All to no prevail. btw the GOP size is max=12 as I found thru this board.

Scenarist accepts the files but cannot mux the vob's. DVDMaestro crashes on bringing hte m2v into the timeline. Sonic DVDFusion doesn 't recognise the file and wants to transcode the movie before authorizing.

I 'm now trying to encode directly into 29.97 NTSC with TMPENC and windows media player seems to play them fine without the expected artifacts from the extra added frames.
The source IS 23,97fps as stated by windows in the properties.

Are there some secrets to this anybody can show its light upon???

Thanks in advance,

AJ
(It seems there 's allways a catch, i hope this is the last one)

encode progressive 23.97 ntsc and then use pulldown.exe on the resulting m2v/mpv file

Try decreasing the quality of your m2v file. I believe there is a slider bar in TMPGEnc that does this.

I had the same problem with output from BBMpeg using MQuant 1 - the best quality... Don't ask me why but increasing it (i.e. degrading the quality) worked for me.

Thanks.
I allready tried to decrease the muxrate and progressive encoding.
Sorta gave up on the project which was for homepleasure so not too important.
