Is it possible to mix NTSC and PAL mpeg's on 1 dvd with dvdmaestro? Or another program?
TIA

The specs don't allow mixing NTSC and PAL. Although it's possible, by way of video attributes, to have one VTS as NTSC and another as PAL, the VMG (main menu) must be one or the other. This means it will not play in a player of the opposite standard.

You can't mix the formats in DVD Maestro as far as I know.
I once read a post on the old Flexion forum about someone who had done it in Scenarist, but this is the only time I've ever witnessed this and certainly haven't done it myself.

Why is this? SVCD, VCD allows mixing of NTSC and PAL.
I have made many SVCD's with Music Video's etc, and each track had a different standard than the previous.
Why is it so hard for DVD?
I really like TMPGEnc DVD Author, but it wont let me mix material, even when I put the videos on different tracks.
Does anyone know of a authoring software that lets you mix content, without converting it?
or a program that forces TMPGEnc DVD Author to author the DVD.

I never tried that, but maybe TDA let you do the job, if you are using DVDPatcher to patch the PAL-Movie to NTSC or the NTSC-Part to PAL first.

Probably dvdauthor. You can set video attributes per VTS. Haven't tried but it allows for many fancy things that other tools don't, so there is a chance...
DVD patcher will work fine! trust me.
I have done it but the problem i had is the following-
I had 2 clips and 2 tracks.
Track 1 was a PAL clip
Track 2 was a NTSC clip
I used dvd patcher to change pal clip to 352x240 and 29.97(this is first header only) then imported into TDA.
You then save project and close TDA.
Reinitialize DVDPatcher and undo the changes u just did.
Then open TDA and import project, it will then write the output files!
But... Here is the problem i had-
When i burned it onto a DVD-RW, the pal clip's video was fine but the audio would play for 0.5 sec, then cut out, you would have to fast forward a little and then when u stopped fast forwarding, it would play 0.5 sec again then cut out?!?!
I do not know what kind of effect it has on the audio but the video played back fine.
a single disc can have NTSC and PAL on it, and still be playable on everything.

Kika, I tryed DVD Patcher and it worked great, thanx heaps.
c2p I didnt have any of the problems you experienced, but what I did notice is that I coudn't create chapters, or motion thumbnails in the menus, with the patched clip, because TDA tryed to play the NTSC as PAL.
But thats a small price to pay, for a Multi-System DVD.
and it works sweeet on my standalone. - XMS 750 DVD Player.
hmm... what would happen if i used DVDp to patch the whole file? would it go out of sync or u think it would work?

I wouldn't recommend you do that, it might f*ck the file up, and you might not be able to reverse the system, when you are ready to burn.
Does the file you are patching, contain muxed audio ? AC3 MP2 etc
If it does, i recommend you try demuxing all the streams, patch the video stream only, and then author the video, and select the audio separetly within the authoring software.
