Dear Koepi,

It will be nice if you could add custom split size to the
next OggMux, so I could post the small part to the usenet.

Thank you.

I think for that purpose you should use OggCut from Tobias. With that tool you're able to cut out a certain sequence. If you e.g. would enter 5mb into the split option, it could totally mess up and deliver you nice 350-400 pieces per 700MB file...

Just as a sidenote.
I will add 800 and 900 MB at least for the next version. I dislike the idea of smaller parts for the abovementioned reason, but I could add it if there is greater demand for it!

Best regards,
Koepi

@Koepi,

Thank you for the confirmation,
but I can't find "Split option" from the OggCut (Version 1.0.0.0).

PS. I think I need not just a "cutter" but "slicer".

I won't ask for smaller cutting but I think that something like a custom cutting would be nice, mainly thinking about overburned / almost overburned CDs. If you want to get the maximum of your CDs, you'll go for ~703MB (standard capacity without o.b.) or if you want to get even more, you'll go to o.b. them, so you'll probably go for 710-714MB.

I mentioned custom setting as everyone would have his/her own numbers.

Just guessing. Anyway I like to use 702 MB (yes, I know 2 MB won't make SUCH A BIG difference but I hate to lose any bytes of my CDs).

By the way, do you know when the Title support will work on the filters? (I guess it's a filter matter)

Nope, I dunno when Tobias will implement that.

Hey Koepi, first of all i wanna thank you for making such a nice tool!!!
I can't really think of a program that is easier to use :-).
But i also got an improvement idea:
When i use you split option, the chapters are not splitted. All the chapters are imported in both parts of the splitted file, instead of cutting off some chapters in the first part and adjusting the chapters in the second part (Real chapter= old chapter-runtime of part1).
I hope you'll improve this in the next oggmux version.

peace

Beware, OggCut has a little crop bug (almost discovered with XviD), this happens when you select from center to end, when you use the left selection "bracket" go one keyframe back otherwise you loose the start-point keyframe and its deltas (!).

P.S.:
Hey Koepi, DON'T YOU HAVE TIME TO ADD A SIMPLE CUSTOM CAPTION FOR POINT SPLITTING?!?!?!?? :D

I was joking...
This is not my taste to talk/ask things to others... at all
...NOT with you :D:D

As Jay-C, it would be great if the time of the chapters would be ajusted for the 2nd part. And only the chapters for the part, and not all chapters for every parts.

Concerning the subtitles, is there a special format needed ? Or the standard SubRip is ok ? Are they supposed to be cut and ajusted for every part resulting split ?

Hi,

I might find some time to code tomorrow/this evening, so I could try to adjust the chapter times after splitting. Dunno if it would work then, it's not to easy. Basically I'd need to build a completely new graph for the splitting...

This would include making the graph a timeline, and that is definatly way too much for the time I have :-/

But I can fix my debug value in OggMux and make splitting a generic field (which has many drawbacks and can be buggy!).

Best regards,
Koepi

Or perhaps would be possible to include 2 chapters-files in OggMux, one for part1, the other for part2.
But which parts of the .info file generated by SmartRipper are important ? We could ajust times and frame number manualy in the second file, helped by time ajust from SubRip, for instance.
Or a tool to split the ogm file at time xx:xx:xx, which will cut the subtitles and the chapters at this time and reajust time and frame number...

Are the subtitles already cut ?

i strongly suggest using chapter xtractor to get your chapter data. it has proven more reliable for me.

Koepi: would it be possible to extend the automatic support to work ala meg's instead of 1-5. if not, please ignore me ;)

say something like:
<maxsize>703</maxsize>

There's still the issue with the "dropdown edit boxes not getting updated properly", so if you enter some values of your own there, they might not end up where they belong at all. This has bad effects and will raise a lot of bug reports for something I already know.

But for an *.omx file it should be possible (as with them you can enter language strings of your own *hint* like "English-Director's Comments" or "French-Director's comments"...).

I'll take a look into that.

Koepi

Hi Koepi.
I have a suggestion for the -f option of OggMux 0.9.0:
How about a small windows with a process bar (with percentage indicator) and two buttons, 'cancel' and 'pause/resume'?
I would be very happy if you can set this on your to-do-list.

CU,
Zeus.

Hi,

First of all, I do love this tool, it is very effective and simple to use :)
As everyone is using this post to send their ideas to improve OggMux, I suggest a demuxing tool. You open your .ogm, select either the video, or the sound (or both of them) and then you click demux :)

I know we can demux with graphedit but that has not the same feeling ;)

@Zeus:

If I'd know how to solve that, yeah. I have to investigate why the gui doesn't come up.

@clima:

Do a forum search on that. Ther's a good reason not to do it...

Oh, so it is not wanted that the GUI is hidden? Funny, and I thought, it is a feature...:)

Zeus.

Koepi

Well, I didn't care that the GUI doesn't come up because if I use automatic mode I don't need (and I don't want to) to see it. But that's a "random feature", and I didn't look at this as a problem.

Koepi
