Interlacing

I was just wondering what the ramerfercations would be if i always select " Smartdeinterlacing " in the options, as i don't really know or know when i have to deinterlace.

Every copy i have done i have always had this option checked and they have worked fine.
But just wanting to find out more information as to when or when not to deinterlace.

On the latest version there is a option on the " GO " tab that alows you to have a look at a " still frame " and select various things.
I have noticed various changes after selecting these things and was just wondering do we go buy picture Quality and will these setting acheive the results that we see on the " Still frame ".

As always with these questíons, you have the answer by yourself. If in your eyes there isn't any difference and you're satisfied with the quality, then why do you want other peoples opinion on the matter. If speed isn't an issue, by all means, always use smartdeinterlace.

You cannot count on picture quality on a frame per frame basis. So even if the preview picture looks perfect, it might no look perfect when you play the movie.

yup. also, it's be a wise idea if you'll search the forun for 'interlace' and learn more about this issue (since u said u don't know what does it do).

All very well to say search the forum , but i think i and many others would be sitting in front of there screen's for days trying to find an answer to a simple question for some.

I was always under the impression that a forum was for help and not critisisim, and it's also easy to say that i already know the answer to the question , it's also very easy to push a button and select any option in this great prog with no real explanation as to what it is going to do or how it's going effect something.

I do not expect you fine peoples who have created this prog to go into fine detail as to what each tab actually does, but to say i know the answer and to search the forum to obtain a answer that you have to be a programmer to understand, leaves me the only option to ask the question .

I hope that somebody has the time or patience to explain it in layman's terms.

Let me ask you this two simple questions:

"How would you feel if you were a moderator and you had to answer the same questions over and over again on the same board?"

"Why would you rather wait days to get an answer, when a simple search might have answered your question right away?"


True this board is for helping users, however, we want users to help themselves too. Always remember we answer questions as a hobby, that means you have no right to demand an answer, even if it isn't answered before. The obvious reason is that there simply isn't any who has a proper answer to the question.

No matter what, there is absolutely no reason to get upset if you don't get an answer. Do you get upset everytime you ask somebody a question and they answer "I don't know". What do you do? Do demand an answer from him, even if he doesn't know? Just because you think he has a proper answer does not give you the right to get upset.

Sorry if i upset you DVD2SVCD , this was not intended to do so, and my reply was misunderstood.

I was only trying to point out that things are not so obvious to some than to others.

I under know time DEMANDED a answer,and i have utmost respect for the MODS & all the other people outhere who put time and effort in answering the questions.

I have searched the forum , many answers to de-interlacing, but nothing that i could find or have over looked explaining which de-interlace to use and how you know when you have to use it.

I know in my original question i said that i always have smartde-interlace selected , i'm trying to find out when and how i would know when to select one of the other ones.

Well, unfortunately I can't give you a good answer to your original question. This is what I do when converting PAL movies. I start the preview window, and select "new frame" a couple of times. If I don't see any interlaced frames I simply don't use any deinterlacing. If however I do see interlaced lines I make 3 test each of one chapter. I test with Smartdeinterlace, SeparateFields/SelectEvery and Telecide. I burn them unto CDRW and I watch them on my TV. The one that in my eyes looks the best is the deinterlacing method I select.

Unfortunately I don't have any scientific solution to your question.
