Ok i need help burning to cd's. I have bought 700 mb cd's and ive just ripped a dvd movie.

The image file for the cd's are 805 mb each.
The movie is 122 minutes long.

How can i burn the image file to a 700mb cd considering that the image file is so big?

I have a samsung cd writer and i tried to burn an image using Nero and it doesnt work. Also I have adaptec Easy cd creator 4 and i believe that it doesnt support overburning!

Is there a way i can make the image file smaller when ripping the dvd using DVD2SVCD?? I used 1 multipass vbr and cancelled the downsampling!

Please can anyone help out in anyway? thanks!!

Ok...This question has been asked many times (many, many) and been answered even more...
But I will answer this. Next time do some reading and searching... It's all there - in the forum...

When you create SVCD you can burn up to 800+ MB onto a 700 cds. It is because of the error correction. If you want to burn in Nero, enable Overburning and that's it.
This question is answered in the DVD2SVCD Q&A - look over there for a specific explanation.

take care

If you're doing VCDs, check your make and model of your dvd or vcd player with the database at www.vcdhelp.com.

I really dont understand this!! Ive just put the cd back into my dvd drive and ran it! it now seems to be working perfectly!!!!

The first time i tried running it, i had only just finished burning it i gave it about 1 minute after burning it! Could this b the reason?? that i didnt give it time to cool down or something??

Can someone just answer this last question??

You need to understand that being "new" or being able to play VCD are not enough.

DVDs and CDs use different color laser light. CD-Rs and CD-RWs are also in different parts of the light spectrum from CDs.

The particular LCD lasers used in your player may:
restrict you to certain brands of cd-r
restrict you to different, but only certain brands, of cd-rw
may work with cd-rw and NOT cd-r, as cd-rw is "closer" to cd in color
may work intermittantly, as you have described.
Take a few minutes to examine the database at www.vcdhelp.com for your make and model of player. At the very least, you may learn something new there about it that you didn't know before.

All i can say is u chat a load of crap!!! I just said that it works and it can read the cd now! I tried it as soon as it cam out of the cd writer! it has nothing to do with my dvd not being able to read certain discs cos it can read them discs so shut up and stop chatting a load of rubbish!!!

That's what you get for trying to help jggimi. Almost makes you not want to help at all.

Even though I wasn't part of the original thread, I certainly learned something today.

That explains why my DVD drive may not be reading some of my CD-R's. I didn't realize that the brand would have an impact, but I wasn't really paying attention. I will now.

So, thank you, jggimi, for taking the time to post the link and give me some more information.

I asked a certain question and he comes up and talks about dvd lasers and all the other stuff! I didnt even want to know about that information i just wanted to know whether if u try running a vcd straight away after burning whether this could be the reason why it was playing really slow and then i put it in later it was fine!

I didnt really need to know that some cd's dont work with dvd players.
I knew the cd's that i have been using work with my dvd otherwise i wouldnt have tried to use them!

Im gratefull for people trying to help but when they go off of what im asking it seems pointless to give me information i dont even need!

Your question was answered by these kind people spending THEIR time to help you with YOUR problem.

I think that you just need to read a little bit closer, slow down and pay attention to what you should be absorbing.

Pull you faking head out of your a_s_s. Stop being rude and just thank them for their efforts.

If you want to be an a_s_shole about the whole thing, just fakin look on the net using search engines.

I can't remember the name right now, but the person talking about lasers - thank you for that information. You taught me something today. I didn't realize that laser colors can make some kind of difference. I guess that would explain why one disk will work in my burner but not in my DVD drive...;)

Newho - y'all have a nice day;)

My DVD'S good its a new dvd i got it last may! its a pioneer dvd and runs vcd's because i bought some ages ago! You didn't tell us the model number. The following Pioneer DVD models support VCD on CD-ROM but are reported as either not supporting or having limited capability with either CD-R or CD-RW: DV-505
DV-503
DV-606
DV-K101
The following Pioneer DVD models support VCD on CD-ROM but are reported to have unknown capability with either CD-R or CD-RW: DV-09 DV-103 DV-503 DV-C36 DV-F07 DV-K102So it is quite possible optics was your problem. It was an assumption, based on the symptoms you reported.

I contritely solicit your forgiveness. I was merely attempting to help you uncover the cause of a problem for which you were seeking assistance.

Rest assured, I won't ever attempt it again.

@twig f*cker: hey jacka**, if you look at jggimi's stats, you will see that he has over 300 posts. i would guess he's been around this forum a bit and not asking questions like "how do i burn a cd?" and if he gives you an answer, i believe "thank you" is the appropriate response. not "crap"

@the mods in all their grace and authority:
would some mod please ban this lame noob? i mean, even i wasnt this disrespectful when i was a know nothing noobster.

twighead!

Falcor, my applause goes out to you!!!

I couldn't have said it better myself!!!!

Just think though, instead of banning him, maybe just ignore him and Mr. Twigglesworth will figure out how to make some use of his manners...

It just may work out to benefit all parties involved:)

You lot just seem to be so dumb!!!

You just dont listen i said that it works fine now. and jiggimi or whatever your name is u were saying about how some pioneers dont read certain cd-r's and stuff like that, well im saying now that everything works fine and the cd-s can be read. I was just asking one question it wasn't a problem just a question.

You lot dont seem to understand that the cd's work fine and it has nothing to do with the lasers - the dvd or the cd-s which i am using!!
So i wish u would just understand what im trying to say!!!!

The reason why the cd was running slow at first was because i didnt give it time to cool down!!! So thats the reason not any other thing!!

Yeah, that's it. The CD needed to cool down. Sure.

It's because of idiots like you that moderators run screaming from the doom9 forums. Show some respect!

Eh, CDs don't need a time to cool down.

Alright now, I think that I have a "valid" answer for you...

Next time, while you are waiting for your CD to cool down before you use it, would you please run out to the auto parts store and pick me up a gallon of blinker fluid. I seem to be running a little bit low and was wondering if you can help me out.

And in case the technician asks you what kind of blinker fluid that is needed, just tell him the blue kind.

Oh yeah, don't forget to tell the tech to hurry getting the fluid for you either, because your CD you just burned is probably cool enough to use now....;)

Alright then since u lot are so smart why dont u tell me

When i put the cd in straight away after burning it and ran it y was it jolting so much???

And when i put it in about 10 mins later it was working perfectly fine??????

U got an answer?
And if it was anything to do with lasers surely it would be like that all the time rather than just doing it for a minute then stopping????

So just give me a straight answer and stop messing around like stupid idiots!

And u lot are so sad,, u use this thread to have a go at me why dont u just get on with ur own lives and sort yourselves out????

Mrafrohead
5th May 2002, 05:36
Maybe because we have nothing better to do with our lives but mess with Lamerz like you... Well maybe I shouldn't speak for "us". I guess I have nothing better to do with my life.

Lamer;)

You see, there were a few people that tried to help you out in the beginning, but instead of being nice and polite and just saying, I don't think that that is the problem. You had to be rude and insulting. Which was why I decided to join in.

To point out to you that your arrogance and total disregard for other peoples feelings is downright atrocious.

The funny thing is that you say you're from the UK... I thought that British people were supposed to be all polite and prim and proper. I would have to say that if the rest of the people from your country are anything like you are, then I would never want to visit it. Fortunately, I DO know other people from the UK and they are nice and polite. But you my friend, set a God Awful example!!!

Just think of it like this. If I were to stop and ask you directions to a place and then you gave them to me, and I replied with, "Fine then, piss off." How do you think that you would feel??? Probably pretty s-h-i-t-t-y... And that's basically how you handled yourself with this post.

So now, I hope that this answers at least ONE of your questions.;)

As for the rest of it... Maybe your install of your OS was done poorly. Maybe you haven't configured your machine properly. Maybe you didn't burn the disk properly. Maybe your BIOS isn't configured properly. Maybe your burner doesn't work right. Maybe you have a problem in your head and just "thought" that you were seeing it. Who knows...

I would have to say though, that after this little post I am writing, I don't honestly see the point of helping your worthless ass out... I don't think that I need to waste any more of my time on you, and it's time for me to take my loser no life ass and bother someone else.

So thank you VERY much for your time!!! I hope that you feel as if it was as wasted as everyone else now does...

:) :( :sly: :scared:  Mrafrohead:devil:

BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO

OH, mr afrohead, that one of the finest replies to an arrogant little prick that i have ever seen. i want to start screaming WOOOOOO-HOOOOOOO at the top of my lungs or do the wave or something. and just to answer the little friggin twirps question, or make another suggestion, if he tried to view the video too soon after running a ram intensive program like burning, maybe the system hadnt relinquished all the ram back to the pool yet. i've seen it happen with my sys. thats why i got "mem-turbo" to regain allocated but unused ram.

at any rate, hey twigglesworth, go pound sand up your lovely little british arse until it comes out your nose and then go find another forum. i scarcely think you'll find much more help here. have a nice day. FALCOR

@Doom9 - sorry for opening this thread, but I felt like I had to add something here..
This post should have been closed a long time ago - my fault. I was away for a week and didn't have time to check back here.
@jggimi - thank you for being helpful - you're a really valuable person
@TWIG3_16 - everything has been said - stop insulting people!
Strike one! That's for sure.
Read forum rules. Especially no. 4!
@falcor & Mrafrohead - well...the same applies to you guys (rule no.4), but I can understand you. We should try to avoid situation like this here. We don't want any flame wars. As Doom9 said - "this isn't going anywhere"...
And I must say once again - it's my fault - I should have been closed this thread a looong time ago...
Thread closed once again

take care
