FRUSTRATED!!!!!! This is driving me nuts! I've followed the guides, and even got the hang of reducing the size of the movie down and it even plays when I put it on a dvd-ram disk in my burner, I then used recordnow max and burned it to a dvd-r which said that it was a good record, but when I put the dvd-r in my settop player and or my other puter that has a dvd drive, IT WON'T PLAY! What the heck am I doing wrong? I discouvered that it didn't have the video_ts.vob on my disk when I burned it, but even when I added that file and opened up ifoedit, hit get vts sectors and then tried to use the built in dvd player I got the good old navigation error. The only thing in the video_ts.vob is that warning screen talking about the dvd player region thing. I AM SO DAMN FRUSTRATED! Its hard to believe that there are so many people that can do this, yet, I own 5 coasters so far! If need be, I can post a list of the files on here if need be. I need some help! I'm sure that some of my question has been asked many times before, but I've been thru all the post's and haven't found anything on this yet. Anyone that can help me, pls send post me a message. Thanks in advance.

got the VIDEO_TS (its empty but add it) to the compilation?. I am using VOB with my A03 and it works a treat. Good idea to invest in DVD(+/-)RW to test burns, saved me a fortune ;-)

Exactly which video_ts file do I need to add?

sorry i meant AUDIO_TS (which is empty) you have to add EVERYTHING in your VIDEO_TS folder. Also i take it you are using IFOEDIT and have done the GET VTS SECTOR stuff etc etc ?

These are the files that I have in the Video_Ts folder:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB
and I even did the "GET VTS VECTORS" right before I burned it, am I totally missing something here?
Now are these the correct files?

Yea, your title-set menu vob is missing.
VTS_01_0.VOB !

Probably a typo -- but I also noticed your IFO for title set 01 has an upper case O in it (oh) rather than a 0 (zero). If it isn't a typo it will definitely make it fail.

Hello, thanks for everyone's help, I have a funny thing thats happened since I posted this. I took all the dvdr's that I've burned to Best Buy and tried them on JVC,Toshiba,RCA,Sharp and Mitsumi dvd players AND THEY WORKED ON EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!! They played beautifully and with sound. The problem is my settop dvd player!! I don't understand one thing though, According to about 10-12 web sites I've looked at supposidly my dvd player is supposed to play them. My Wife's puter has a DVD player in it and they won't play in there either, Comes up with an error, "Windows cannot read the data on the disk". So I'm thinking that something I'm doing during the burning of the dvdr is causing it not to be playable in my settop or her dvd player in her PC. My settop is a Memorex MVD-2026 manufactured in June 2000. I have a Matshita DVD-Ram LF-D310 burner, and I'm using Verbatim DVD-r's to burn to and I'm using "Record Now Max" Burner program to burn with, I've set all the settings to the guides, and I've burned the disk with all the files as listed and my previous post and the additions as all of you have suggested. Any body and any more suggestions so that I can get these to play on my settop playter? And yes that was a typo in the name.

Use Prassi's Primo DVD, that program will tell u if the structure is bad.... I have the same burner and use this program to burn... try it out.

Where can I get a copy of it? I've done a search for they're web site and all I get is that the dvd was bought out by Vertis. Which they call it record now max, but the record now max doesn't have the structure checking. Like Primo.
Getsome4u,
i own a philips 957 setop player.
i have to pad my dvd-r otherwise i wont work.
by padding i mean add a dummy file big enough so dvd-r is fill up to 4.3 go. (that was the case for X-Men)
besides, i dont have to add an empty AUDIO_TS folder.
finally, for i dont care the menus and addon, i get rid of everything but the video title set file (starting with VTS_01_1.VOB) and re do my ifo files with ifoedit. (i still have to "get vts sectors" on these new ifo files).
then i burn with record now max (which has the same burning engine as primo dvd but is way easier to get ! you can dl a trial version on web site ...)
so here was my very little experience ..
hope it helps.
Erwan.

I want to thank everyone for they're help so far. And I might try the padding on my next dvd. I don't know xr I've emailed you and hope that I can figure this out. I might just have to go down and spend the $139.99 on a new dvd settop player. Now does the padding make it playable even on the dvd player in the puter?
getsome4u,
padding will do no harm for setop players who dont actually need it.

Ok, then the padding is out. Thanks
It could be that your standalone player doesn't work with your blank DVD-R's. I had this problem with my Sony standalone. I had some blanks with the dark red/purple dye and the Sony would not play them. I then tried some blanks with a light purle dye and the Sony played them fine.
You also might want to try Nero 5.5.8.0 or newer, you can download the free trial at www.nero.com. I've only used Prassi Primo for burning images (not individual files like your trying to do). The disks burned with Nero have worked perfectly on 5 different DVD players.
The fact that it won't play in your wifes computer is somewhat troublesome. To verify that the data is truly readable, put the disk in your burner and copy ALL the files back to your hard drive. If you can do this, only then you can be confident the files were burned OK. Just playing the movie for a few minutes is not enough to say your disk is good. Your best bet is to use Nero and select the verify after writing option on the dialog box that pops up while your burning the disk. If your burner reads the files OK but your wifes DVD-ROM won't read the files then it's probably a compatibility problem with the blanks (like I described above).

Man thanks for all the help, I went out and bought a new JVC dvd player and it plays my dvd's, the only problem now is that, during the playback the movie skips sometimes, if I could solve that, then it would be gold. I'm going to try a new disk, its still like a purple red color but its a different manuf. The other disk's were verbatium, this one is a Primedisk out of Japan. I'll let you know how it works out.
