View Full Version : Decomb crashing Gknot

When I try to use decomb in Gknot as per Doom's guide (save and encode, hit edit, etc) all seems well, the avs is saved, audio is set, but I get a Gknot .exe error when I hit the encode button. Then Gknot thinks it is encoding, but there is no nandub and cpu load is zero. Tried a reboot and reinstall of Gknot as was suggested in other threads. No luck. The decomb .dll is in the Gknot folder. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi-
Try and start up Nandub or VDub and see if you can open up the .avs in it. My guess is that the .avs is bad, perhaps because of a cropping error, and VDub-Nandub will crash. Maybe post the script here, but leave off the lines with the # in front.

Thanks for the help. Here is the script. Still seems to crash things even with new avs. I know nothing about writing scripts. (As is evident...)
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\mpeg2dec.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\InverseTelecine.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\Avisynth_Spatial.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\GreedyHMA.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\WINDOWS\System32\vobsub.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\decomb.dll")
IVTC
InverseTelecine(40,10,15)
or use
GreedyHMA(1,0,4,0,0,0,0,0)
Telecide()
Decimate(cycle=5)

If my brains were leather I wouldn't have enough to make a pair of spats for a robbin. I took off the # but not the whole lines. Sorry should be:
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\decomb.dll") Placed after vobsub line
Telecide()
Decimate(cycle=5) Placed after Greedy HMA line.

Hi-
I'm not sure I understand anything of what you said. Did you try and enter the .avs into Nandub directly? Try it, and then scroll around and see if it crashes.
Also, give us the whole .avs (with cropping values-cut and paste the thing, and then delete the lines that begin with #).
Also, maybe try and run your passes outside of GKnot (after creating the .avs). Run the first pass in Nandub. Enter the resulting stats file into GKnot and edit it however you wish, and then run the second pass. If you succeed in that, it will rule out you setting up the encoding wrongly.
But I still suspect something's wrong with the .avs, but we'd have to see the whole thing.

you don't need to load InverseTelecine or Greedy if you are using decomb. maybe that causes the crash.
avisynth is not as stable as you may think. only load the plugins you need.

I dun think Zeimas knows what u are asking for. Here's my script.
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\mpeg2dec.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\decomb.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\WINDOWS\System32\vobsub.dll")
mpeg2source("C:\ADEU_DISC_2\VIDEO_TS\du2.d2v")
# IVTC
Telecide()
Decimate(cycle=5)
# CROPPING
crop(12,4,692,472)
# SUBTITLES
VobSub("C:\ADEU_DISC_2\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0")
# RESIZING
BicubicResize(480,368,0,0.5)
My problem. I can open the avs file but it will give me an access violation at 0x00bfb812 after scrolling around. It also gives me a scrambled frame every 6-10 frames I go thru before it freezes. If I do:
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\InverseTelecine.dll")
InverseTelecine(40,10,15)
I have no problems.
