Hello :)

I want to encode a DVD that is NTSC.
When I do the preview in DVD2AVI it says
NTSC - INTERLACED - FRAME RATE = 23.976
There is no FILM or percentage of FILM

So how should I handle this?
Do I use FORCE FILM.
Do I not use FORCE FILM.
I assume that if I do NOT use FORCE FILM then I need to either do INVERSE TELECINE latter on or do I use the SMART DEINTERLACING option?

Please help and thanks I have encoded many DVD Videos with success but this is the first time I ran into this "problem".

Do NOT use FORCE FILM, but use SmartDeInterlacing (Or GreedyHMA(1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0))

Hello :)

I forgot to note this in my original description ...
If I do the preview in DVD2AVI with FORCE FILM selected then it
says NTSC - INTERLACED - 23.976 fps

However if I leave FORCE FILM off then it still says NTSC - INTERLACED - but now the fps is 29.970

Also the preview is most definately INTERLACED with those annoying blackish lines around anyone or thing moving very quickly.

So should I do NONE (as in NOT using FORCE FILM) and then SMART DEINTERLACING latter or what? And what about the INVERSE TELECINE option? What the heck is that for anyways?!?!?

Ok sorry to rant all help is appreciated.

The FORCE FILM option will automatically drop one frame in 5, hence 23.976 (=29.97*4/5). Inverse telecine will do the same thing as FORCE FILM but FORCE FILM is a 'dumb' but fast function that will fail if the pattern changes. Please read the sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23776) in the DVD2AVI forum, my post there will probably clear up one or two things.
