I tested winsubmux v.0.0.1.8 and 1.0.1.0 with dvd2svcd 108b1.
When used with the default color palette in SVCD subs, the result is a dull grey yellowish colour, which usually is hard to see.
Same thing happens when I choose my favorite (foul-proof with SubMux)black-white-outline-black.
However, the usual submux problems with SVCD subs with default colors(transparent subs) seem to be gone. At least in the movies I did so far.
I had done these tests when Winsubmux was first mentioned in a thread, but wanted to check them further for confirmation.
I even tried operating WinSubMux manually, same result. So, I went back to the original Submux with the "tweaked" color palette :(
Now I see that in the next version, winsubmux will be integraded, so I just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced the same problems and if yes, thought of a workaround.

@ EMonty:
The default output colour palette (Black-White-Outline-Grey)when using Submux and SVCD subs,(NOT permanent) in 3 out of 4 encodes, gives me "transparent" (outline only) subs,(Submux complains and replaces some colour during muxing. That's the tell-tale sign ).
Through trial and error I found out that using: Black-White(or Yellow)- Outline-Black keeps me and SubMux happy :). And in the latest versions, the changes "stick" (Thank you again Author)
That's my "tweaked color pallette" :) Not anything fancy and quite crude, but it works.
I do not know of a similar problem or solution for CVD subs.

Well, I'm absolutely THRILLED to report, that the new version (109 official + revised) supports 100% perfectly shown SVCD subtitles, with a perfect grey outline. No more "1 colour" subtitles!! I did a 3 (different) chapters test, both with the default and my "tweaked" palette (which I don't need anymore :) ), and everything went 101+ perfect!!! WinSubMux is ROCKING!!
P.S.
The preview window works 100% perfect now, showing complete subs and palette.
