Incomplete audio encoding

Hi!

I've got the following problem: When encoding the movie "Enemy of the state" with DVD2SVCD (127 min (pal) on 3 CDs, encoded on NTFS, 2 audiotracks (48 / 128) and 4 subtitles), the first compressed audiotrack has a length of 114:39 min. and the second one has 74:01. The extracted AC3 files appear to be complete, as they are both aprox. 356 MB. The log reads:

I tried to convert the audio again over night, but this time using BeSweetGUI itself and not DVD2SVCD. This time the second language (german) is complete, but the first language is just as short as before (ends after 114:39 -> aprox. 12 min. missing. The log says somthing about CRC errors at the times, both files ended at the second encoding. Buf have a look for yourself:

DSPGuru would be better than me on this, but until he has a look try these things.

1. Make sure you have Azid 2 pass checked on the audio tab
2. Download and replace BeSweet with the latest beta
3. Try raising the audio bitrate to 192 on both streams.

Okay, thanx, I'll give it a shot.
If I select 192 in DVD2SVCD, I get the message that the total bitrate is too high and the CD might not be playable on all players, so I thought to be sure I'd rather lower the audio.
Anyway, I'll try it and give you response.

You need to drop your video bitrate MAX if you increase the audio bitrate. Make sure to keep the Max Avg at least 120 points below the MAX too. The warning you see if for the combined audio and video bitrates.

looks like the ac3 streams are corrupted. try to use another ripper/demuxer.

btw,
i've noticed that you're using TWO dynamic-range-compressors :
-azid( -c normal ) -boost( ... )

imho, the sound quality should suck after compressing it twice.

@ markrb: If I lower the max video bitrate, doesn't the image quality in faster scenes get lower, too? Can you tell me how low I can set it without puking while watching the movie ;) ?

@ DSPguru: I used the newest beta of beSweet (kick-ass programm, btw) and it worked fine: I still got the error messages but the prog rides over it and I can't hear any error-signals in the final file.
I stopped counting the times I encoded this file... :o After all, the sound after 2 compressions kinda, well, sucked :rolleyes:

It's all about compromise. I think 128k audio bites and never do any audio below 192. If your player can handle it uncheck the warning on the bitrate tab and set everything where you want, but your player must support this.
A drop of 70 points in Max is not all that noticable anyway unless you are at a very low bitrate to start.

Do a few test encodes using CBR and CDRW discs to see what you player works with. CBR ensures you are always at the bitrate you set so there is no need to find high bitrate scenes.
