the alt preset is not like --r3mix jsut a bunch of command lines
the alt preset also usses tweak and finetunigsn in the compiles itslef so you CANOT reproduce the --alt-preset with command parameters
you CAN however alter the preset by setting new parameters
lile --alt-preset xxxx --lowpass 16 if you want another lowpass
so using -a-lt-preset -ms shoudl do the trick
but why would you like to encode in full stereo when joint stereso does a much better job. you can (and in this case WILL) actually hurt the quality by encoding in full stereo due to bitrate limitations

/B]If you're going to do something like this, you might want to consider -Y instead of --lowpass. For --aps, Dibrom himself consideres this a much better way to lower the bitrate, search for it on hydrogenaudio.org if you need to.

the lowpass was only an eksample :-)

Thanks,
MoonWalker Metal music isn't characterized by having two completely different channels (stereo). js should be fine, imho.
btw, why not using a vbr preset instead of abr? i would suggest using the 'extreme' preset.
btw,
what album are you planning to encode ?

SO i'll stick to js..Ok i will try to use the extreme preset..but what is the lower bitrate of this?32??and the max?320??
I will encode :
Blind Guardian - A night in the opera
Tool - Lateralus
System Of A Down - Toxicity
Stratovarius - Infinite
I just bought them and want to secure that they don't get destroyed...
btw Metal music is the less pirated music IMHO..:)
Thanks,

Actually many reasons, found through many studies and listening tests, as well as careful coding by the lame developers. Now, the question is: do you think it's wise to go against all these studies and listening tests just because you have this "joint stereo bad, stereo good" mentality instilled no doubt from some crappy encoders (Xing/audiocatalyst comes to mind) or bad/outdated guides? Or do you think it's best to just follow the recommendations of an entire forum/community/project (hydrogenaudio.org) and the lame developers?
edit: hi, i guess you were posting at the same time I was, glad to see you're convinced that LAME js is good now :)

:) :)...Hmm...IMHO :
Blind Guardian - A night in the opera : Power Metal
Tool - Lateralus : Rock (Actually Tool Rock ;) )
System Of A Down - Toxicity : NuMetal & more :)
Stratovarius - Infinite : Metal...
(A little off topic :) )
Whould you think --alt-preset extreme would be good ??
