View Full Version : [PROB] Vdub crashes

I have tried encoding many times with the Xvid codec, but I can't seem to get vdub to make it work right. It can encode using one pass method just fine, but when I try to do a two pass, it aborts right as it starts and vdub closes. Anyone got any clues as to what might be causing this to happen?
Not really. Have you tried using the latest release of both VirtualDub (1.4.10 ?) and XviD? If it still crashes, then something is indeed amiss. I can build a debug version of the vfw frontend to track it down..

I've used vdub 1.4.10, 1.4.7, and 1.4.6. All give me that same problem. I used the method described by the guides, so I have no clue what the problem is.

Maybe a pb with the Hinted me/ pass stats path...

Nope, it happens even if I turn the Hinted Me off. Argh!

Hmm, oddly enough, if I don't use vdub's Job Manager, it seems I'm able to actually encode. It's letting me encode the first pass, I just hope it lets me encode the second.

sometime i have this problem , vdub start encoding and after 1 or 2 sec crash with an error in the Xvid dll file :-( the only solution i have found is using a tool for create a .vcf file, with this i dont have problems.
(However there is only the basic parameters for the Xvid codecs)

Try using the "default" button.
This ensures your registry settings are all right for the actual build.
I had some crashes as well when I updated my dlls, but resetting to defaults always helped it.

I also had crashes with the job manager. But all I had to do was update to the new virtual dub and it worked fine.
