Downloaded DVD2SVCD
Sent off a donation

It did everything it said on the tin!

This was my first experience in putting a DVD to CDR so I just went through the idiot's giude and pressed the "GO" button - 14 hours later I used Daemon Tools (as suggested) and burnt the movie using Nero - it all worked!

Did another one just to prove it wasn't luck - worked twice.

Only problem - you need a LOT of HD space for the files! Luckily I had just done a reinstall and had got rid of a lot of junk files that seem to multiply all by themselves.

Thanks for a brilliant programme - it would seem that some people are not so lucky, so I set out the machine details below for reference.

WISH LIST : Ability to put onto one CDR to watch on a laptop - quality doesn't have to be as good as for a 28" TV.

MACHINE - Homebuild

ASUS A7V motherboard
Athlon 1100
512 Mb memory PC133
Pioneer DVD 1.04 (flashed to be multi-region)
Plextor 1210 CD-RW

Again, thanks to DVD2SVCR and DDogg et al for the guides.

You can already make a movie for one CDR, just set the line in thebitrate-tab with the length of your movie to one CD.

Hello,

congratulations. One hint to reduce the number of required steps: Nero 5.5.8.0 has no problems burning the cue-files directly without the aid of the daemon tools. I use Nero with the same Plextorburner and have had no problems with this step.

Thanks for the input ref movie length and Nero.

I will try the bitlength and see what happens!
I use Nero 5.5.4 and I used Daemon because it was recommended - I didn't try without Daemon but I will see if it works OK. I used burning speed of 8.

Will advise in 24 hours or so after the next rip!

Thanks again, appreciate the input.

You are entitled to free upgrades within the 5.5-line, and I urge you to download the update to 5.5.8.0, because some earlier versions had problems with the burning of SVCDs from .cue-files.

Thanks for the upgrade tip - will check out the website.

The DVD to one CDR worked - I was copying 2001 A Space Odyssey which is 143 minutes long but it all worked. The picture is a little blocky in a few places but as I am watching it on a laptop screen, it is OK - not too good on a 28" TV though.

5.5.4.0. burnt it all O.K. and I tried it at 12 speed with no problems.

Thanks for the help and suggestions, very much appreciated.
