Hi All,

I've been trying to use ReMPEG2 to lower the bitrates used by my VOB files without much success. ReMPEG2 opens the VOB file and analyzes it, and everything seems ok. My question is, when I go to encode my VOB file, what file extension am I meant to use? I've tried using .vob as the file extension, and all I end up with is a file that is unreadable by PowerDVD and is about twice the size of the original VOB file. What am I dong wrong?

You cannot use ReMPEG to create a VOB file as you are trying to do. Once encoding is complete, you will have a file that is of a .m2v extension. You may use this file in an authoring program (ie. DVD Maestro, Scenarist, etc.) You must "compile" the DVD project in the authoring software. This will mux your .m2v file and audio and produce the VOB files you need.

Here is the Doom9 guide for ReMPEG...
