I am trying to convert my digital 8 video tapes of my 1 yr old son from my camera to DVD to give to family. I have made many coasters out of perfectly good DVDR's. Please help.

I am using DVDit that came with my VAio V 2.3.
I convert the avi file from my sony camera with several capture programs such as Ulead and DVGATE. The file loads into DVDit and test plays fine. I burn the DVDR with my Pioneer DVR-103 on a 4.7gb pioneer DVDR - G.

It takes a while and then it plays in my sony vaio, and most other PC based DVD players, just fine, but it will not play in my Toshiba SD-2109 settop player. It gives a disc error display. This forum and many other DVD info sites state the Toshiba as being able to play the DVD-R's, not VCD or DVD-RW.

I read most of the FAQ's and reviewed the forums here, but I cannot find a simply explained AVI to DVD for settop procedure. Am I missing something?

Sounds like the DVD media you are using is not compatable with your settop unit.

Thanks for the reply. I think so too. I found two other lists that put my model settop in the ancient category with 3.9gb disks.
