View Full Version : uManiac, has the instant build enabled EPZS and EPZS^2 Motion Search by default?

Like the subject says, i wanted to know if the instant build has enabled the EPZS and EPZS^2 Motion Search.
Because i have been doing some tests with your latest instant build and Nic's latest build and, with the same settings, Nic's build is always sharper.
A little bit, but noticeable.
Since i know that you guys builds don't change so much between one another, i thought that this maybe be the reason.

Attention: i am not saying that your instant build isn't good! Like the name says, it's an instant compiled build of the CVS code, for the people that always want to have the latest compile.

AFAIK EPZS has not been enabled in the CVS, so the instant build uses PMVFAST.

Thanks for clearing that.
But why isn't enabled in CVS? I mean, at least i (don't know if anyone else notices this too) have noticed that the encodes made using Nic's or Koepi's builds (which have it enabled) are a little more sharper than the instant build ones.
Since all the settings are the same, i can't think of anything else aside the diferences in the motion search.

I believe that when EPZS and EPZS^2 motion search first apeared, they weren't optimised and were slower, but for me at least the little lost in speed (?) is more than compensated by the increase in the quality.

But this is only my opinion, don't know if anyone else thinks this way :)

EPSZ and EPSZSQ are only there for testingf purposes and thus disabled in CVS.

Gruel is overhauling the code anyways so it might be an optional choice later on...
