[Prob] Xvid 150 MB under given Filesize

I setup the Codec (Koepi's XviD-17042002-1, 2pass,Doom9 Tutor Settings,Size calculate with Gknot, Luminace off) to 1210 MB, the result is a 1060 MB file. It wouldn't care me, but some Lo-Mo Scenes in "Interview with a Vampire"(a lot of dark scenes) are looking nasty, high bitrate scenes are fine.

To get a better result on Low Bitrate Scenes, i try higher values in Two Pass - Tab, change "I-Frame boost" and "Curve Compression -> Low Bitrate Scene" but it didn't help, actually the Filesize was a little bit smaller :angry:.

So what can i else do ?

I think this is just the problem all codecs have with dark scenes, have you tried just doing the first pass (constant quant of 2 - with discard first pass off) and seeing how big and how good the file is? If the first pass is undersized then the only (reasonable) ways to get the file bigger is to use less (no) smoothing, a larger resolution, or a sharper resize. All of these will not significantly affect the quality in dark area, that problem is heavily disused in this forum.

What about setup the Alt. Curve to a higher rate ? for example "minimum
relative quality" about 85% ?

I don't understand Alt. Curve System very good, so i ask you :).

I don't think changeing the Alt. Curve, will change anything, if the video is saturated with frames at min quantizer. The curve is flat so you can't stretch/compress it.

In addition to what Asmodian said, I guess you could also use min. quantizer = 1
