I'm using Avi in WMP and noticed that I could youse multiple formats to include subtitles: vobsub, subrip, sami, microdvd and maybe more.
As the subtitle file has to have the same name than the video file, how can I use multiple subtitles (be able to switch between english, french,...)? I got this by choosing two different formats so the extension change (srt and sub) but there must be a better way to do this?
Thanks,
Jag

not sure I'm following...
if you rip the subtitles files (.idx and .sub) and use, for example, vobsub and its directshow filter, you'll be able to freely switch between all the languages instantly. You'll only have one big subtitles file for all the languages. Considering it's not that big with respect to the avi filesize (usually under 20 Megs), I would advise against trying to rip only parts of the subtitles (like only french and english from a multiple languages DVD).
And hey, maybe you'll learn bulgarian someday..

OK, you're right if I use vobsub to get bmp subtitles but if I use subrip, I get one plain text subtitle file per language. And this is in this case that I don't really know what to do.
For Bulgarian, maybe. But I'd like to be able to speak english before... the reason for the subtitles. I'd like to see movies in english with english subtitles so I can see what I didn't understand.

Sorry for annoying but I found the answer in another forum, you just have to name the subtitles files like video.english.srt, video.french.srt,... if the avi file is video.avi
