View Full Version : Can't divide by Integer 0 - with DivX 5.01 Pro Encoding???

I'm not exactly a n00b to making DivX files, but I am with DivX 5.01 PRO...

This is my problem...

All of my movies I have made up to codec 4.12 have been very nice!

Since 5.0 I have been having problems, but figured them out.

Now I got 5.01 and I have a REAL problem. The avi's that are created are "corrupt"??? When I try to open it under Media Player it just crashes the program. The Player - Crashes. RadLight - it gives me an error message: Can't Divide by Integer 0. I have no freakin clue what the deal is. I can open the file under Virtual Dub and it works just fine. But not in any players.

This is an intermittent problem also. Not every file does it, and it doesn't appear to have to do with any particular setting either. I can make one file one way, and then do it all over again, and the next file will be bad.

Here's my system...

DivX 5.01 Pro - Codec (this is from a fresh windoze install - no other codecs installed)
Windoze 2000 SP2
768M CAS2 133 SDRAM
1.4G Athlon 266
ATA100 7200RPM HD

I am using Smart Ripper 2.41 to rip.
Flask MPEG .60 to encode
Radium MP3 codec for Audio
DivX 5.01 Pro for Video
and b-frames is always on for divx...

If anyone has experienced this problem, please let me know. I have never had problems like this before. I am not sure what is causing it, but I can say that it's frustrating. I am just trying to figure it out before I have to regress back to DivX 4.12 - because I have never had problems with anything before 4.12. The performance of the 5.01 files is impressive and I would like to be able to continue using it...

Anywho, please let me know if this helps and please help me if you can...

If needed, I can also be reached at Mrafrohead@yahoo.com

Thank you for your time;)

Well...
Although I'm not sure what can be your problem, I would suggest you couple of things.
Stop using Flask - buggy and crappy proggie.
One can think that I'm against Flask - I say: YES! All the way!
Radium MP3 - what for? LAME is much much better. Use BeSweet or HeadAc3he for direct ac3-mp3 transcoding. And you can always try vorbis.
720x480 - ??? Why don't you crop or resize??? Use Gknot for proper cropping and resizing.
Flask - no way! Use VirtualDub - create .avs file with Gknot - you will get a speed boost.
And for multiplexing use Nandub - or if you want to use vorbis - OggMux...
These are only my suggestions, but hey - you don't have to use them!
I have made some movies using different types of codecs and proggies. And Flask was the only one that used to give me a headaches.

take care dude

I agree 100%. When I first started encoding, I used Flask. Gave me nothing but headaches. Gnot is the only way for new users. Real easy with Divx 4 and with the great new guide, not too bad with Divx 5.

Well guys, I would like to thank you for your time...

I think that I figured out what the problem is... It was the Flask .6... I switched myself back to the .59 and it's working alright now... Or at least appears to be.

I would also like to thank you guys for your opinions.

I have tried Gknot, and I didn't really care for it too much. I really like the results that it makes, but to me it seems a lot more difficult to encode with than Flask.

But the moral of the story... I think that I'm fixed;) woohoo...

And a final note for anyone that's paying attention - DAMN, it works well;)-~

This weekend I went ahead and backed up a movie of mine and attempted to compress it into DivX 5.01 2 pass...

What ended up happening was the same darned thing. Cant divide by Integer 0.

I wanted to check for some opinions or facts, if it could be from SmartRipper 2.41???

It just dawned on me that I used to use 2.37. Unfortunately I'm not home right now so I can't test my theory, but I was hoping to get a little bit of insight before I wasted another night of mine:) Hehe...

Anywho, any input would be much appreciated. THank you for your time!!!
