Hi

I know this is probably a stupid question but...

In nandub what is direct stream copying?

Several times Ive read in guides that when doing this or that ensure that video and/or audio is set to direct stream copy but I cant find out exactly why you set it to that or what is actually happening.

Sorry if this is a lame question but I've looked and cant find the answer. I would just like a better understanding of what is going on.

Thanks

Hi-

It just means that the output of the audio or the video is the same as the input-no encoding or other kinds of processing is being done to it. You need to direct stream when muxing audio with video, splitting, appending, etc.

And welcome to the Forums.

one interesting usage
open a asf vid with vdub 1.4c-asf
save it with direct stream
"et voilą" you get a very fast asf2avi conversion.
