TV Chip : BrookTree (Conexant) Vs Philips

usually u have both of them in one card.

phillips makes this big silver box, that u connect the video to (it's called a tuner). brooktree is the chip than interfacing between the tuner and the pc hardware (and software).

Hehe, I like this way to mix things up to show the author he has to be a little more precise *G*

But for sure he means Brooktree 8x8 vs the new Philips all-in-one capture chip.

It is said that the philips chip has a higher bit depth, thus could look better.
The sound is tested to be good.

It's just a matter of time when this new chip is kicking brooktree(conexant) out of the market. From the specs it is cheaper and superiour.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't think such a question can be answered correctly because it depends on many things like:

- the specific card
- the drivers
- the OS
- the capturing software

Only to name a few...

And not to mention that very few of the members have tested the majority of the cards out there (I know, there are some members who tested many cards (Hawk etc.), but they are not posting here very often).

So, IMNSHO, a better question would be:

What are the pro's of the card x over the card y?
