I consider myself a somewhat experienced user but as of the most recent build (DVD2SVCD 1.08b1) I have had some difficulty regarding substitle position.
It started on my most recent encode. I went to watch the most recent discs on my standalone and the CVD subs were cut off at the top of my screen. I went back to my settings and noticed that the NTSC position were Y=0. Checking an older version I noticed that the default position is Y=-1.
So I fired DVD2SVCD up again and used the new "preview" pane and noticed that when the Y position is -1, it is still at the top of the screen. Not wanting to have the subs appear cut off and at the top, I changed the postion to 400 with everything coming out alright.
So I would like to know:
1) Should the default of Y=-1 always work even though on the preview pane it looks to be still at the top?
2) Should one always use a positive integer to verify correct position? If the default is Y=-1, what does this equal in
terms of a positive postion (so that it would appear normal in the preview pane).
3) Those white lines. Do they indicate the center of the BMP characters (for example, if you were to draw a line directly through the words on a given text line)? Or do they represent the line on which the words would sit if they were "underlined"? Or do they represent the "box" in which the text would appear (with no BMP pixels above or below those lines).

PPS Using winsubmux shows essentially the same result as the Preview Pane.
PPPS I am writing this because, unlike everything else, no software DVD player can show subs. I don't want to make too many coasters experimenting with position.
