WDM-capture program

I tride to find a WDM capture program for a while now...iuVCR is great BUT...it doesnt support mulisegment capture as Vdub does. Then the timerfunction isn't that good. BUT on the other hand the program has a very nice sound mode. And I'm also able to capture in resolutions over 384x288 using my Pinnacle PCTV Pro under XP, with its new WDM drivers.

I used vdub before when pinnacle used VFW drivers.

Summary: is there a program that support
1. multisegment capture
2. timer function
3. Supports WDM drivers.

You could try the wdm/vfw wrapper and continue using vdub. Avery Lee details how to enable the wrapper under W2K in the archived news section at virtualdub.org. I believe there's also a wrapper for XP. And of course there's a timer utility for vdub and also a timer enabled version of vdub.

While its made for recording/watching TV more, the program Showshifter is being developed to do what you want. The beta of version 1.7 is moving into that direction.

I have found iuVCR to be a piece of crap and no longer use it. It also forces you to use Ivan's drivers, which aren't as good as the ones at btwincap.sourceforge.net

Well...I tried Showshifter....but i wouldn't work if you wanted to capture using Huffyuv. It worked with PICVIDEO MJPEG codec...strange...any ideas how too get Showshifter working with Huffyuv?

Try Virtual VCR.
Works fine for me with a MSI GeForce3 Ti200 VTR, Philips Chipset, NVidia WDM Driver and Windows XP Professional.

I like that program, but the sound in iuVCR is very nice....especially the digital option.
And its capable to capture to segmented avi's!!

Showshifter 1.7 beta seems nice aswell (had to format my harddrive to get it working).

I'll be using iuVCR until I find something better!!

VirtualVCR can't capture to multiple segments.
The author doesn't want to include this feature (i even gave him some hints how to implement that, I can even give him some code samples how to do that - but he simply doesn't want to add this feature), so using it on a FAT32 system is not advisable.

Oh, sorry !

I haven´t seen the segmented stuff.
Of course Virtual VCR doesn´t support segmented AVI. It´s only for NTFS capture drives.

I think Uleads Videostudio 5/6 could be a solution because AFAIK it supports:
1) WDM / Direct Show drivers
2) segmented AVI capture
For timer support you could use Windows scripting host combined with scheduled tasks and Ghost Mouse.

Blizzer, maybe a stupid question, but nobody asked it before so I will: are you sure you need segmented capture? Are you using Win98/ME? If not, I'd format the capture drive in NTFS.
Sorry if you already know this, I just wanted to make sure you're not looking for segmented capture options that you don't need.

The problem is that I'm capturing under winXP, BUT I's like to see the drive in Windows ME aswell....thx anyway..

The prog u look for is FlyDS 1.2.5...the latest version :)
Works only with WDM drivers.

I see that there is a FlyDS 1.3 out. How does it compare to iuVCR?

Better GUI than iuVCR, more flexable, easy to use timer function, audio recording level adjustment, can capture audio only or still images..etc...Just give it a try...and tell me your opinion...
