s-video input is black and white

hi,
i just replaced the composite cable between my receiver and computer by a s-video cable to hopefully improve picture quality and somehow the picture is only b/w :/
i set the right video format (pal b/g) and i switched to s-video in both programs i tried (vdub,wincoder).
i noticed that when i select composite in vdub again the picture is colored even if its still running over s-video cable.
is it possible that my (cheap) receiver doesnt support s-video? i use one of there scart adapters with s-video connector.

I tried the same with a VHS video recorder once (connect via scart->SVHS->capture card) and hoped it would increase the quality. But then I found out the normal VHS recorder doesn't output any color information on the relevant scart pins and the picture was only b/w...

From an old thread (that you could have found if you just search for 's-video')...
It's the same thing with the TV as the VCR.

It's propably because you TV can't do S-video even though you've got a cable that fits. (S-video has the 'picture' and the 'color' in two separate lines). Some TV's got 2 scart-connections where one of them can do S so you could try to switch.
