Asus E612 speed!!

Hi just wanted to know if anyone who has an Asus E612 is getting the same speed as i am when ripping with dvddecryptor 3.0.....I get max 2.4X......while the drive should be able to do 12X max...hmm..could someone let me know if theirs is the same...is the Asus locked just like the Toshiba's when i comes to ripping (yes everything is set at DMA)..because i will be assembling a brand new computer and was thinking about buying the E616 from asus ...but if its gonna do tha same thing ..then i see no point in it..better to go for the pioneer 116(S) then...my father has one and i get 13x with that sucker:)!!!

when using the dvd decrypter your pc has to copy and decrypt the dvd data in one phase and that is the matter of the cpu and not the part of your dvd-rom and it seems like you are using in your pc a little slow cpu and in your dads a better one..

correct me if i am wrong

Well I actually have PIII 1 Ghz with 512 ram ..so its not that little of a cpu power now is it??:)

The dvd rom is normally the limiting factor. My cpu is approx 30% when ripping at around 11mb/s. I suggest you look into the dma issues. There are about 400 million threads talking about its effects on ripping speed. I dont think we need to make this into another one. Hit the 'search' button at the top of this screen. :-)

Try to upgrade the DVD firmware.
I have an Asus E612. Before the upgrade the ripping speed was always below 6X. After the upgrade the maximum speed sometimes get to 10X.

www000tt thnx kasteybah i upgraded to 1.4 and now i get stable around 5.2x...and sometimes reach 6.1x..hewheheh that much better than my first 2.4x:))) thnx a bunch:))
