this seems to pop up a lot in the basic forum, and it doesn't seem to be going away so I propose we start enforcing this rule by simple disregarding any post that violates this rule. That way, advanced users don't waste their time on users who don't read the rules, and probably not the guides/readme's either.
just an idea, but that's what I've been doing for a couple weeks now.

What we have instituted and are are now just getting up to speed on is a new way we are handling these idiots.

We now have a 3 strike program. If a user violates any rule or combination of rules three times the user is put on probation for 30 days. You can see the set of sanctions that will be imposed here:

This is now part of the forum rules. We keep a list of violaters in the private Mod section along with the rules they broke. When they reach three we simply alert Doom9 and he puts them on these sanctions. If they are put on sactions more then once I believe they are banned.

Each mod is suppose to alert them of their violation and attach one strike so they know they are being followed and this will not be forgotten. The list ensures us that if they violate the rules in another forum that is not frequented by mods that have already attached a strike against them they will not go unnoticed. This is new and we are just now getting the kinks worked out.

Personally I go a little further. I first warn them of their rules violation, assign a strike and depending on the rule I lock the post.
Mostly for violating rule 1 and 1a not reading up, doing a search, reading the guides, Q + A or FAQ. I find a locked post with you violated a forum rule seems to work at stopping them from doing it again.

For the really idiot posters the mods like to team up and really blast the poster. It's bad enough when one mod tells you your an idiot try three or four doing it. Really fun sometimes to see the defensive follow up posts.
