bitrate over 2756, why?

when converting some movies with DVD2SVCD a warning window pops up at the begining saying "bitrate is 2787" far higher than the max. 2756 --as it suggests.
It warns that the movie could not be played by all DVDs.
Then asks whether to go on or stop.
I don't know what should I do.
Go on anyway? Change something? How?
Any kind tip?

That is because the bitrate you are trying is above the SVCD Spec.

It is all player dependant the only way to know for sure if it works for you is to test it.

I have 2 DVD players. My Pioneer won't work above 2724 combined video and audio while my Apex will play all the way to 5724. So as you can see every player varies.

the fact is that I can't try if it works until I go back home with the movies... which I won't do for a while yet.
My question then is: when renting a DVD and converting it to SVCD, and there is this max. bitrate warning, is there no way to circumvent this?
To lower it so to fit in the regular margins of about 2600?
Why some DVD movies produce this max. bitrate warning and other don't? Aren't all in the same format?

Yeah just adjust the Max down on the bitrate tab or if your player can exceed this uncheck the warn if the bitrate is to high check off.

I suggest you read the DVD2SVCD guide at doom9.org. This is pretty basic.
