CRC Patch question

hello,
I was getting checksum errors for the first time when i used cce. I was using the newest version and it kept giving me checksim errors. So i got the patch that disables all the crc checks. I then left it on overnight and when i woke up, it was frozen at around 25%. So i tried to crash recover and it just wont even begin transcoding. I tried it several times and sometimes it would freeze when the speed was .3. So i had to do it manually by clicking on the .avs file in the cce window. It is workin now, but i'm getting an usually high speed of 1.999 when converting from avi2svcd. But the file size only says .2 Mbps. I wanna know how come CCE is acting weirdly. I never had this severe trouble b4 until i utilized the crc patch. Is there any way to disable? And would this solve my problems and make cce normal again? Thnx for your time...

Most likely there really is a problem. By using the patch you are disabling a real error message. The only reason many people can use this is if the error only happens a couple of times in the encode. In your case it sounds like the error is happening all the time through the encode. Like I said all you are doing is stopping the reporting of an error not the error itself. Obviously on your computer CCE doesn't work, at least with the way it's setup now. I would uninstall CCE and install a clean copy. I would not use the patch and try to stabalize my computer until I got CCE working without the patch. If you are overclocking, stop it, slow your memory timings down and everything else here that has been suggested for CCE problems. Run the Prime95 torture test and some good memory testers. Look in the Q + A for links.
You may end up being one of the people that just cannot use CCE.

mark, this is the first time i have had a checksum problem. I have converted at least 50 movies using CCE and for 99% of the time it has been stable. I believe that the patch has done something that shouldn't have been altered. I read somewhere that one can usually get over this checksum error if they be persistent and keep trying. I think i should have done the same instead of turning to the crc patch. Is there a way that i can disable or counter the patch so that CCE does perfrom crc checks? My system is not overclocked and has proven CCE friendly for a long time. And now the file size has gone up to .7 Mbps. and the speed has descreased to .808. Is CCE acting weird by having the file size so small? I think that on my other encodes the file size used to be around 1.7 to 2.1 Mbps. Would having such a little file size effect the outcome? thnx for your reply mark....

ps - CCE just now froze at 25 % again. The speed is 1.718 and the filesize is .6. Is there way to disable the patch?

The only way is to uninstall CCE, make sure the directory was deleted and the install a new copy. Even if there was a patch for the patch I wouldn't want to use it. I would rather have a fresh copy.

hey mark,
i deleted the directory and reinstalled CCE. everything was goin fine. it created the .vaf file and then it went on to save the .mpv file. However, it took like ten-15 minutes to start. I thought it had frozen again and so i tried it again and again. Howver, once i left it for a bit and it automatically started after a while. But the file size is still .6 Mbps. does this mean that something is wrong? or is everything is fine? thnx for your help....

Ok I know what you mean now. That is related to the bitrate I believe. So you might have the bitrate at around 600.

Grab a copy of the CCE manual on the CCE hompage. It will explain what all these things mean. They will only have the 2.64 manual, but don't worry most of it applies to 2.5 and 2.62 as well.

The speed is 1.73. The file size, which keeps increasing and fluctuating, has a bracket ( ) after it. In this bracket it says .6 Mbps. I'm used to having something from 1.17 to 2.2 Mbps in it. I just wanted to know if this will effect the outcome or mess it up somehow.

That speed sounds too fast. I think you are getting an error. Stop CCE and play the AVS file in Windows Media Player and see if you see an error or the movie.

Cut an paste your AVS file here. I want to see if there is a problem with it.

You are going to have to start over, but where is the problem?

Have you run the Prime95 torture test to check your computer? If not definately run it. You will find it linked in the Q + A.
If this fails you have a problem with your computer.

You may also want to try replacing the Avisynth.dll that is in your windows/system32 directory with the one you can find in this thread. Use the 1.07D one not the 1.07a that is linked in there as well.

After you replace it make an avs file with the word version in it. Make sure it says 1.07d. If so try playing that avs file again and see if you see the movie or an error.

Avisynth is very memory touchy. If it's off even a little bit you won't get it working right.

hey,
i deleted all the files that were created by the dvd2svcd. :( sorry but i didnt think. i already ran prime95 on my comp for 24 hours and everything was ok. i replaced the .dll file like you said. i didn't get what you said about making a .avs file with the word "version" in it. so now i will try to do the whole procedure again and post my results. thank you for your time....

It's real simple to make an avs file.
Open notepad. Write version.
Save as test.avs.
Make sure to change the type of file from .txt to all files.

Thats it. The just play that in media player. It should come up with a green line that says version 1.07d or 1.05.

If it says 1.05 after you have replaced the file search you hard drive and delete or rename any avisynth.dll in any directory other then windows/system32 which you should have placed the new one in.

Then try it again until you see 1.07d.

i did that. i opened notepad, typed "version", saved it as .avs file and changed from .txt to all files. however, when i try to play it in media player this message pops up: "Windows Media Player cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist in the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline". does this mean that i'm missing the .dll file? that can't be as i just put it there a second ago. any suggestions....thnx for your help

i let the whole shit run and i was surprised it didn't produce error. however, when i ran the .bin with daemon tools all that came up was a green rectangle box. :mad: i dont know what else to do. the funny thing is when i wanted to preview the movie this green rectangle box also came up. i didnt think anything of it then, but the output is almost exactly the same. i have attached the .avs, dvd2svcd log and svcd info files. Until you get Avisynth working without an error you will never get D2S to work.

Try uninstalling DVD2SVCD and then reinstall it. Then replace the dll in the system32 directory with the 1.07d version.

Try another AVI. Maybe something in the AVI is screwing it up.
Just replace the avi name in the avs file and play it in media player and see if you see the video or the green triangle.

Do you have Divx 5 installed?
Try again after uninstalling it.
I read a couple of others having this issue after installing Divx 5.
