repair vcd dat file containing freezing frames ?

how can i repair a dat file (mpg?) with bad frames that freeze during playback ?

Now the easy way is to image the disc with discjuggler make sure the "do not ignore errors" or to that affect option is used, when it gets to the point of crc error, unrecovrable etc, it will substitute dummy blocks. This will enable your dvd player to play the disc, you may not even notice the dummy blocks or you may get a cuple of seconds of blockiness on screen.
Depending on how bad the damage is you can use vcdrip to strip out the datfile.
