Hello!

I have installed latest ogg filters ( v 0.9.9.0), but I can't play 6 ch ogg files (2ch works).

I get this error in WMP 6.4:
An invalid media type was specified. (Error=80040200)

I've used latest headac3he (0.22b) to get the ogg, under Win98 in dumb mode...

What am I doing wrong?

thanks..

You provided very little information about troubleshooting. Have you verified AC3 plays through the analog ports properly? Try any other players by chance? AFAIK WiMP only allows Direct Sound playback, this could be a problem for you as well, try Wave Out in another player.

That's all the guessing I'll do for now until more info is provided. Good luck

Ive also got problems with Ogg multichannel playback..

2 channel works just fine in Windows MP.... multichannel also plays but some of the channels are very low... to even hear the speach i have to turn the volume up to max.. and then it sounds like talking in a tincan :-)

The downmixing of 5.1 oog into 2/4 channal has a LONG way to go.....even the hchanal mapping to go to 6 speaker out isn;t corect, and this is on the winamp plugin only, the ds filters aren;t even up to that leval yet.

@Antimon

Maybe I dont understand you correctly or maybe your late for the party but Vorbis 6ch playback is in fact working fine via the DSF. What do you mean the 6ch mapping isn't correct?

Also, Tobias hasn't even implemented the 4ch downmix yet so of course it's not working. 2ch downmix is working fine as well.

On the dsf front i must be late to the party, how does one configure the ds filter's downmixing or don't you? My filter has no options, and as far as icould tlel i have the newest version .9.8.9?

As to the winamp plugin, i was not aware of the 4 chanal not beign implemented yet...and the mono, 2 chanal and 6 chanal leave as is, do not work properly for me, which you'd see my results in that thread, no need repeating it here.

Right now you have no downmixing options as they are hard coded in the DSF. Soon Tobias will have a version that gives you full control for speaker sets. Should be nice.

I wasn't talking about the WinAmp plugin at all from Peter. Please understand that it's in the development stage and isn't meant for mainstream yet.

AH

Well a quick trip to the a/v forum and i got myself an update

ds filters .9.9.1 :-) just installed lets see what we get.

Did i misunderstand you or does the .9.9.1 dsf filters downmix to 2 channal? it's not for me, i get left center comes out right the other chanals do not exist using wmp 9 on xp pro with a sblive 5.1 cgamer in analog mode 2 speaker preset.....

in 5.1 mode i get the same thing, left coems out rear left center comes out rear right at same time as front speakers, no other chanals are present.
looking at the filter graph the filter is passing all 6 chanals to the directsound playback device.

Actaually I haven't tried 0.9.9.1 yet:) It sounds like the downmix hasn't been implemented properly yet. All I can really say as a fact is that the 6ch mappings worked fine for me in the last version.

Guess I need to install 9.1 and make sure things aren't broken.

Well you do have a non creative card if i remember so things are in yoru favor...but as "crummy" as they are, with the installed base so high it has to be properly suported at some point, to be a viable solution
I realise we're still in the infancy of the format :-)

Hello!

I have SoundBlaster Live! mp3+, I can play 4 speakers, and play AC3 under PowerDVD.
I have installed in_vorbis.dll from "Multi-Channel Vorbis WinAmp testers needed", in winamp works for 2 & 4 ch through Wave-Out and 2ch with DSP.

But the error that I get in WMP seems like can't recognize the 6ch ogg file, and I don't think that it depends on hardware. Anyway, I get same error when I try to open the 6ch ogg file under graphedit.

I didn't know downmix doesn't work. Anyway, I guess that 6ch ogg file should be open in WMP or graphedit but I wouldn't get any sound. Am I wrong?

Tnxs!

That is what i thought you originaly ment, that you got an error, but we got a little side tracked

It should play back yes the install must not have gone propally or has since been curupted try reinstalling it, at the very least graph edit shoudl render the filter map.

hmm i shoudl try wave out, i was tryign ds out. in winamp, it played but not corectly.

Hello!

Mmmm I have reinstalled again OggDS.exe in Win98 and doesn't work (even 0.9.9.1 version), but it seems to work under Windows XP... it's weird, it seems to be my W98... maybe I should format my HD.

Thanks!

I got sort of a problem here as my 6 chan Oggs aren't playing the center speaker as i get no voices. I have a SB live!5.1 and when i play the Ac3 file it's all ok, if i downmix it to 4 chan or 2 chan i get everything working ok but not in 6 chan :(. BTW i use headac3he v0.23.

Thx fellas:)

in winamp, or wmp?

In any Wmp8 or powerDVd basically i think any player. In Winamp i've installed the plugin and i can hear voices but only in rear right chan and front right chan.
If i got to control panel-->sound&audio devices-->advanced and choose surround instead of surround 5.1 i get the sound with voices but basically it's working as stereo as i get sound only in Front speakers.

Well the reason i ask is cus winamp has it's own decoder by peter and winodos uses tolbas's so i was tryign to issolate the decoder...

i haven['t got either to downmix properly though

The downmix to 4 chan and stereo works great here, by now i'll stick to 4 chan downmix instead of 6 chan but its would be great to have that working fine:)
Probably the SB drivers aren't up to that yet, or just a glitch in the DSF.
