I'm no expert on MPEG audio so please forgive me if this question is stupid :)
My capture hardware generates audio that's MPEG1 Layer II 192kbps. I'm satisfied with this except for the volume that sometimes is -15dB. I would like to increase this to at least -3dB without reencoding the audio, is this possible?

But I have to be an expert to understand that there are TWO audio FAQs on this site!
Anyway, thanks for your input but the programs applies to MPEG1 Layer III.

/PP the program applies only to layer3, 'cause it's only possible with layer3 frames.
i guess you'd have to reencode.. :(
and if reencoding already, may i suggest mp2->ogg :) ?

Oog isn't the be all end all solve it all.....Sure it may be "better" quality but it can't be used in a lot of situations still, so it's only a good solution for certian projects.
A smart person uses the best solution tfor the situation, by taking advantage of everything thats out there.
