Hi DSPGuru!
I think AacMachine deserves a new thread ;)
Thank you for the new toy, btw ask DD to correct that Output(OGG) label to Output(AAC). :)

btw, all AacMachine users,
please help me to collect staistics regarding AAC settings ~ results bitrates.

i want to add a bitrate predictor like we have on the OggMachine.

Do i have to do a serious test about Ogg/Aac quality listening with the internal speaker of an IBM Netvista? :D

I have to say the AAC audio quality is quite impressive, though I've done no real listening tests on the home theater yet.

Needless to say my curuiosity is going to get the best of me now and I'll have to start houndng people for muxing tools...cough Nic...cough Koepi:D

Muxing these into MPEG4 containers doesn't seem to be a viable option ATM. I say this after having a look at the mpeg4ip player*sigh*

Ok, tested.
Source: AC3 demuxed from 2 chapters of Pearl Harbour - 5'31" - 3/2 348Kbps.
Encoder: PsyTEL(R) MPEG-4 AAC Encoder V2.15 (build Mar 2 2002)

Encoded with AacMachine VBR Preset -streaming.
With the same Azid/BeSweet settings AC3 to Wav with BeSweetgui, then dropped the wav on Psyteldrop (-streaming).
Compared the 2 AAC files, they are identical.
The bitrate is 125248 bps and the quality is very good.

Converted to MP4 with mp4creator60, it plays fine with MPEG4IP wmp4player, mp4player60 and Winamp.

Now, if we only could have a working DSF...<cough cough>....

DanniDin made some improvments, mainly by eliminating the need of comdlg32.ocx . this activex component isn't needed anymore.
(AacMachine now works directly against comdlg32.dll)

I think it has some potentional really. My early listening test didnt impress me yet:( However, the bass response was much better compared to say Vorbis. Reluctantly I have to say my subwoofer also has better bass tones with MP3 compared to Vorbis.

This weekend I'm going to try and make time to do a nice thorough listening test between Vorbis (different coupling modes) and then AAC. Then I might be able to make a better judgement:)
