i guess i'm not the only one who gets confused some time by all the settings and which i am allowed to change in the second pass without loosing quality or risking a broken file.

so i thought that it maybe would be possible to store important settings from the first pass in the .stats file and grey out the checkboxes or text fields containing these settings in 2nd pass int mode after the file is loaded.

don't know if this is a good idea, just came to my mind after i checked the settings for the second pass about 20 times yesterday ;)

lol You're not expressing yourself badly..

To be honest, I think it might be more hassle than it's worth. Stats editor incompatibility or require skipping the first # frames. -h would have to mess more with enabling/disabling controls heh. And how would we know what people thought were important values which they don't want changed?

Hi,

I think what he is trying to say is that he wants the options that would not be able to be changed in the second pass greyed out, with the ones he could change still available.

This is a good idea, but a little useless. Typically it's a bad idea to change anything for the second pass, since the first pass is always analyzing for a specific bitrate, etc...

I really have to fix the control enabling/disabling..

The only options that affect the 1st pass are:

- Motion search precision
- Quantization type
- Min/max I-frame interval
- Lumi masking
- Interlacing
- Credits, if they're compressed with a constant quantizer

I guess I could disable those controls for the 2nd pass, but it's a pain :)

I'll try something tonight. It might just lead to confusion, that's all.
