OK........I did a DVD2SVCD of the movie Heartbreakers with these setttings on the "bitrate" tab of DVD2SVCD.

Between 100 and 120 minutes, use 3 CD, size 695

Max. 2000, Min. 300, max. average 1775 (did not check min. average)
Audio bitrate of 224 with no downsample.

I got 3 CD images with the following size:

CD1: 716.731 KB (699MB)
CD2: 716.460 KB (699MB)
CD3: 287.358 KB (280MB)

I mounted the images with Daemon Tool and tried to play them with WinDVD 3.01 and got weird results.

CD1: Lenght 34 min. 35 sec.
CD2: Length 34 min. 35 sec.
CD3: Lenght 13 min. 50 sec.

This is a total of 83 min. and 0 sec. but the movie last 118-119 min. Where did the remaining part of the movie go?

Can any1 give me an explantion?

You might want to actually watch the movie once and see if you are really missing part of it. I've had WinDVD report incorrect movie lengths before. Try playing it in a different player (like PowerDVD) and see what it says.

Forum Rule 1 read the forum before you post.

Here is a post just two away from you with the same problem. No fix has been found yet.
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23433

Also why do you have your cd size so small? 74 minute cd's can fit about 740mb's on it and 80 minute cd's fit 806mb's. Your cut size is set at 690mb which means you must have set your cd size to around 696 or so.

Check the muxed_file??.mpg's and see if all the movie is there. I suspect it is and somehow VCDXBuild is screwing up, but I have no idea why.

MarkB, I'm really sorry if I violated forum rulez but I don't agree with u that my problem is the same as in the thread u mentioned.

I'm not complaing about the size of the .bin filez since they're the correct size that I specified in the birate tab and I'm OK with thier size.

My problem seems 2 be that about 35-36 minutes of the movie is missing. I'll give PowerDVD a try 2 see if it's a problem with WinDVD.

Unfortunately the muxed filez has been deleted, but to avoid that next time I've checked "don't delete any filez".

Do you know how to read the log? If not how can you say that I am wrong saying the two are connected? What tells you that I am wrong?
Show me in the log and I might see it.

If you know how to read the log you will clearly see the muxed files are(or were) 118-119 minutes of video.

This is the step right before VCDXBuild. The same point where that other thread had problems.

The error appears to be with VCDXbuild so the post I pointed you to was accurate.

Play the mpv file in Media Player or a Software DVD player and see if the length of the video is correct.

Use recover from Muxing and cutting and after you load it go and check off don't delete files. You should be able to see for yourself that the muxed_files.mpg should be OK.
This may not fix the problem, but as a last resort this way you can burn the mpg's using Nero's SVCD template.

Lastly what did you use to rip? No rippers are supported other then the two supplied. If you have problems from now on and used another ripper no support will be given until you re-do it with the supplied rippers

sorry m8n.....I did not in any way try to indicate that u don't know what ur talking about. I was merely arguing my point but u r clearly
correct that the other thread also seems 2 be about VCDXbuild which I did not realize until u pointed it out.

The .vob filez I ripped using DVD2SVCD and upon loading the .vob filez into the playlist of WinDVD the entire movie is accounted 4.

Also as u mentioned the muxed filez contains 118-119 minutes of video which clearly proves ur point about the problem being with VCDXbuild.

About the CD size. Where I buy my CD's a size of 74 min equals 650MB and 80 min. equals 700MB. It is printed on the jewel case and any attempts 2 bypass that limit results in my burning program refuses to burn due to "not enough space" on medium.

Those sizes stated are for data not video.
Video sizes are equal to about 1 mb per minute.
In the case of 80 minute discs you can burn 806mb no problem if you do it correctly.
There is a reason for the default sizes.

Read the sticky Foolproof way to burn an SVCD disc.

Use VCDEasy to burn the cue/bin in CDRAO
Use CDRWIN to burn the CUE/BIN
Use the burn images pulldown in Nero 5.5.6.4 or above to burn the BIN/CUE, but if you burn using NERO I would rather see you use the foolproof method. Nero is not always perfect alone.

thanks 4 your help markrb.........I did recover crash and the muxed filez r 100% OK and of correct lenght as the logfile also shows.

however the images seems 2 be wrong yet again so I've decided 2 do a reencode with a CD size of 800 so I can squeeze the movie onto 2 CD-R's.

I'm gonna do a test run of a chapter b4 trying the entire movie.
