Hello,
I think you know "Planet of the apes" cause some people have already reported the problem with the DSSD Soundtrack.

OK, I have now used the AC3 stream but have a big problem with it!

When I playback the MP2-Stream I can hear the first 3 minutes without any problems. After this time the 3 minutes do repeat! So the sound doesn't fit to the video-stream.
3 minutes later the sound is correct again.

I have now tryed to recalculate the audio-stream but the problem is the same *grrr*.

What can I do?

Check all the audio files on your HD to narrow down where the problem might be. These would include:
.ac3
.mp2
Both can be played in Windows Media Player.
If you have bad audio in both of these play the Vob files in a software DVD player and see if there is a problem there.

Also paste your DVD2SVCD_log.txt file and the encoded_audio_log.txt here.

Without more info there is no way to what happened and what made it happen.

THX for the fast answer!

The MP2 and the AC3 File are incorrect. I have 7 VOB's and WinDVD only plays the sound of the last two VOB's.
So I can't test the first VOB...

If you did not use the supplied rippers to rip the DVD re-rip the DVD with only the supplied rippers. No other rippers are supported.
Do not use any other ripper.

The problem seems to be in the VOB files. If you cannot play the audio from them there is probably something wrong with them.

I'm using DVD2SVCD for the complete ripp process.
But sometimes I only have time to ripp the VOB's to HDD and not to calculate...
So I rip the files over DVD2SVCD and than I quit the program. Some Time later I restart transcoding.

The complete movie is a little bit exotic...
I'll see if I can extract the AC3 Stream manual over an other program... If not.. I'm saveing 2 CD-R's ;-)

When you select the IFO can you choose another audio stream?
If you can try them all. Just close DVD2SVCD after the audio encoding is done. Then play the AC3 and see if it contains the right audio.

I have been reading around the forum and it seems the Apes DVD is very tricky no matter what country you are in.

Hi there,

perhaps I can help you with that because I've done the German version of this movie the other day without any problems.

Ok, you should really use the internal routines with this movie and you have to make sure to select the AC3 audiostream because D2S selects the German SDDS stream per default with this movie.

Then you have to click on the movie length pulldown and the track length pulldown afterwards. Select the 1:54.11 long track not the 1:54.25 one or you will get the bonus features added (encoded) into the movie as this movie uses some kind of seamless branching with the VOBs.

Hope that helps,
Gerti

@markrb
I'm from germany.
I have 3 tracks with Sourround-Sound avaible. English AC3; German SDDS; German AC3. I used German AC3.

@gerti67
THX for the info but using the 1:54.11 track does't change anything of my Problem.

THX for the info but using the 1:54.11 track does't change anything of my Problem.

Did you remember to use the internal ripping (and rip it again from the dvd) when selecting the above track length?

@gerti67

hiho, i have problems too with the apes dvd - as you can see in the logfile above there is an audio delay of -88 ms. i have the same problem, so how did you fix this?

I haven't fixed the problem, yet! I haven't got the DVD and so I need to wait until my friend gives me the DVD back.

@MOOC:
I also have the -88 ms Audio delay but this is not a problem this is quite usual for a lot of movies.

Again, all I can tell you is to use the internal routines and to choose the AC3 audio stream not the SDDS one and then choose the 1:54:11 minutes track - for me this resulted in a perfect conversion.

As I still have the VOBs on harddisk I will do a quick CBR test with the new 1.0.9 to see if there's a problem with it and keep you informed.

Gerti

Hi gerti67,

thx for the answer. But for the better understanding - is your "perfect conversion" with or without the audio delay? In my opinion itīs not quite usual for a lot of movies, mostly i have a delay of 0 ms.

@MOOC:

This audio delay is from the original DVD source (audio/video streams) and it is quite common with many DVDs I converted (not the same of 88 ms but about in that range). But there's no problem with it as it gets corrected by BeSweet ("-ota( -d -88 )").

Again, this was a perfect conversion.

Gerti
