Q54: I used Recover and now I have problems with my SVCD.
A: If you change settings and use recover some of the new settings may never get used and/or others can confuse DVD2SVCD and you will end up with major errors. The point of Recover is to recover from crashes not to make changes and continue. Use this with common sense and caution. Things like adding a step and changing encoders are known to cause problems and other things can prove to be unreliable as well. Change settings at your own risk of wasted time.

Q55: What should I use to watch the completed SVCD on my computer?
A: PowerDVD XP and WinDVD play both the completed mpg files or the burned SVCD on the computer. Many people also mount the bin/cue files off the hard drive with daemon tools and then play the SVCD in the same Software DVD players. Windows Media Player can play the finished mpg files off the hard drive, but is known to have sync and other issues. It is mostly useful as only a quick checker and not to watch the whole video.

I am not really happy with the wording of Q54. 55 looks OK to me though. Any edit thoughts?

it's not longer called Crash Recovery but 'Recover'

windows media player will parse through the entire mpg file before starting to play.

I think more people mount the bin cue files with daemon tools and then watch the svcds rather than view the mpgs...that's the old way.

I edited both Q's now. What do you think?
Also what do you mean by parse?
Do you mean it's a good quick way to check if it's an ok mpg?

parse...I mean it seems like it takes over 1min and it reads the whole mpg. If you don't believe me try it instead of from your hd but from the cdrom. PowerDVD and WinDVD only take like 5 - 10 secs to start up the mpg file.

to me they are perfect...the edited ones that is.

Hi markrb!

I thinks it's time to add "how to keep aspect ratio with avi2svcd". If you are not a pro it's impossible to understand that without help.

Addition to Q54:

But, if you do want to make changes, do so after you've loaded the d2s project file otherwise your changes would be lost.
