View Full Version : AVI2SVCD - VCDX Build failed to create images

I have some Cowboy Bebop episodes that are in AVI format. I would like to be able to convert them to SVCD. I was able to do almost the whole encode. When D2S went to make the image files I got the following error: C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\VCDImager\VCDXBuild.exe" --cue-file="E:\Cowboy Bebop\Cowboy 1\CD_Image_File_CD1.cue" --bin-file="E:\Cowboy Bebop\Cowboy 1\CD_Image_File_CD1.bin" "E:\Cowboy Bebop\Cowboy 1\VCDXBuild_Script_1.xml" VCDXBuild failed to create a bin/cue file! It made a .bin and .cue file but the .bin file was only a few k.

I dont know if this has anything to do with it but you will see in my log that I restarted from the crash recovery. bbmpeg gave me an error cant find Extracted_audio_1.mpa. The file was there but it was named Extracted_audio_1.mpa.wav. All I had to do was remove the .wav extension and restart the encode.

Any ideas on what I can do? Also I am sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in. I figured it would be the best one.

Q29: I used special characters like ( ) [ ] % 1 2 3 001 4 5 6 7 8 9 in my output folder name
A: Don't use these. These characters can be source of problems at least for bbmpeg. Due to sheer number of programs utilized in DVD2SVCD bundle it's better to just stick to your ABC's lest you like to gamble with your time.

Your error actually appears to be with BBmpeg. Take a look at the length of the video that is muxed:

Analyzing: E:\Cowboy Bebop\Cowboy 1\bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg
0.698 seconds E:\Cowboy Bebop\Cowboy 1\bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg
Analyzing finished.

The video is only .698 of a second long. I doubt the video is that short.

I bet it's user error. Read the Q + A before posting. There is a reason this was made since these are the most frequent problems.

Thanks for the fast response. I knew that I had to be doing something worng and that fact that its so dumb makes me feel like an ass hat. :(

Well maybe I dont feel that bad now cause I just tried to do it again. I got the same exact errors that I got last time. I DID change the name of the dir to just "cowboy". I erased everything made a new dir and started from scratch. I still ended up with the same errors about the audio and not being able to make the .bin and .cue files. Anymore ideas that I can try?

Thanks

You did start completely over right? You didn't use crash recovery?
Using Crash Recovery when trying to trouble shoot is not recomended. If you change any settings and use Crash recovery some settings never get used and others can confuse DVD2SVCD and you will end up with major errors.

Looking at this log file it seems you did an SVCD and then decided to make some changes and used Crash Recovery and started again after CCE. This may or may not be the source of the problem. Like I said it is not wise to use Crash Recovery for making changes. It is there for what it says Crashes only.

Check the size of these files and report back.
bbmpeg_muxed_file??.mpg (Looks like it's about 400mb, the same as the video only.)
encoded_video_CCE_???.mpv (Looks like it should be around 400mb.)
encoded_audio.mp2 (Looks like it should be 25mb or so.)

After looking closer it may still be BBmpeg that is causing the mess up. Play the muxed_mpg in any software DVD player or Windows Media player. Check to see if there is sound. If not play the mp2 in Windows Media player and check to see if that works.

Also looking closer your CCE speed looks way to fast. You might have had an Avisynth access violation or other error. Play the video and you will know it right away. It will be written on the screen. This might be a normal speed for an AVI, but it does look suspicous.

Try another encode from the very beginning and make all the correct choices from the beginning. Do not use crash recovery for making changes to settings.

The bbMPEG_Muxed_File00 is 396 megs
The Encoded_Video_CCE_NTSC.mpv is 387 megs
The Encoded_audio_1 is 127 megs

I was able to play the muxed file in both WMP and WinDVD. I was also able to play the .mp2 file in WMP with no problems. The reason that I had to use crash recovery is because BBmpeg gives me an error when it tries to open Extracted_audio_1.mpa. When I go to look in the output folder the file IS there but its called Extracted_audio_1.mpa.wav. I think that the reason that I get this error is because in folder options I have it set up to display the extensions of all known file types. On my next encode I wil try turning this off and see what happenes. I am doing another encode right now, when its done I will post what my results were.

Thanks again

I just had a thought and remembered another post with an audio error with mpa files. I think this could be your problem.

Cut and paste your audio_log.txt file and I think the mystery is solved. Unfortunately it won't fix your problem because a fix with this version has not been found.

I think this poster and you have the same problem. He posts a work around.

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22988

It doesn't seem like this happened. Your audio file is exactly the size that one of the audio files is. You should have 2 and if you did your HD would have less space.

"C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "E:\Cowboy Bebop\Cowboy 1\Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav" -output "E:\COWBOY~1\COWBOY~1\Encoded_audio_1.mp2" -logfile "E:\COWBOY~1\COWBOY~1\Encoded_audio_1.log" ) -ota( -g max ) -ssrc( --rate 48000 ) -2lame( -e -b 224 -m s )

Another thing BBmpeg should not be trying to open a .mpa file, but a mp2 file. If you have an MP2 file and it includes all the audio then the problem probably is the directory name you originally had and you need to start completely over when this happens. Directory names are not changed in the d2s file if you use recover.

Well now I have a very weird problem going on. No matter what I do, I cant get an encode to go the whole way through. I spent about 3 hours last night with 2 different machines and all types of diff settings, all with no luck. Right now I am uninstalling D2S and removing all left over files then I will try again.

@markrb
I went to that thread that you posted and read all the info, then I went to DSPgurus web site and I couldnt find BeSweet 1.2B6. Also something weird happend when I reinstalled D2S and tried to do the encode, BeSweet crashed as soon as it opened up and didnt encode anything. I will try the beta version that is listed on his site. Results soon.

Thanks

OK I have done an encode using CCE and TMPG. With CCE I cant get it to go past 50%. With TMPG it did the whole encode but when BBmpeg ran I go the error that it cant find a file. The file is Encoded_audio_1.mp2. When I look in the dir I see the file is there but for some reason windows named it Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav. If I remove the .wav part and then do crash recovery BBmpeg will run fine. When it goes to build the image files I still get the same error that I got before:Executing VCDXBuild. Commandline:
"C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\VCDImager\VCDXBuild.exe" --cue-file="E:\Cowboy Bebop\cowboy\CD_Image_File_CD1.cue" --bin-file="E:\Cowboy Bebop\cowboy\CD_Image_File_CD1.bin" "E:\Cowboy Bebop\cowboy\VCDXBuild_Script_1.xml"
VCDXBuild failed to create a bin/cue file!

@markrb I made a mistake in one of posts I said that the file that its wants is Extracted_audio_1.mpa thats wrong the file is really Encoded_audio_1.mp2. Sorry about that.

I am about to give up on this. Anymore ideas?

We need your audio logs. I still believe that the error is there. You cannot simply rename that file. It is not the same format and will not work correctly as I stated before. The file must end in MP2 not have it in it. The file you renamed is an intermediate file and not the end result. VCDXBuild scans the file and looks at the audio. It fails because the audio is wrong. If you do not have a file that ENDS in mp2 there is an error.

Grab an older bundle of DVD2SVCD from the DVD2SVCD homepage and uninstall your current version, install that version and see what version of BeSweet is included. If it's the one you are looking for copy it to another directory, uninstall DVD2SVCD, install the new version and copy the old BeSweet into the BeSweet directory. Try 1.07 for starters.

Im sorry I didnt realize that it was an intermediate file. I thought that was supposed to be the end result. Here is my log file:

Error 33: Unable to get SSRC interfaces
Quiting...
[00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !
Logging ends : 04/18/02 , 14:20:35.

So it looks like you are right. I will try the older versions of D2S when I get to chance to connect remotly to my comp. I am at work now. I will post and let you know what happens.

I would keep both versions of BeSweet around and only use the older version when you do an AVI to SVCD encode. The new version on DVD's sounds so nice. I would keep two directories and then just move the right one for the type of encode you do in at a time. It should still work with the old version regardless, but the new version is so nice.

Just in case I will ask DSPGuru to look at this thread and see what he thinks. He may ask for more info. He is the author of BeSweet.

btw, you don't have ssrc.dll on your computer...

Right now I am trying a conversion with 1.0.7 build 1. It has the version of BeSweet that I was looking for.

@DSPguru
I am sorry if thats not the complete log. That is the only audio log that I have in my folder and that is the whole thing, there is nothing else in that file. If there is something that I am not doing correctly or if there is a diff log file name that you are looking for then let me know I will post ASAP. If I can get it to work with 1.2B6 then I will do what markrb said and just keep 2 seperate folders and switch depending on what type of encode that I am trying to do.

@DSPguru
I have that file in C:Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet folder. I am assuming that this is where I have to have it.

The encode that I was doing with CCE froze so I am doing it agian with TMPG. One thing that I did notice is that the .mp2 file was there. It looks like if I can get TMPG to do the encode then I should be all set. The .mp2 file was about 25 megs just like markrb said it should be. I will let you know what happens when I am done with this encode.

Thanks again
