What possibilities have I to decode the *.ac3 streams or *.dts streams into single (6or7 channel) wav-files? (no stereo)
Is it possible via soft / or harware ?
And when, what for soft / or special hardware do I need ?
thx a lot, mcp.

Softencode (a discontinued Symantec or Sonic Foundry product) will decode .ac3 with up to 6 channels to mono-aural .wav's. Not sure if it does 6:1 AC3
Available if you look around on www
Beware that you must have huge amts of HD space free.
It creates a tmp versaion of each of the 6 wav's and then writes the permanent - it needs simultaneous space for both tmp and permanent
AFAIK no dts decoder readily avaialble

I believe the Surcode dvd DTS decoder will do the dts soundtrack to wav

I'm fairly sure that the Surcode range of products are all encoders, not decoders

You are right! I forgot it is an Encoder not Decoder!!:sly:

BeSweet can decode ac3 into 6 mono WAVES or a single 6ch AIFF.
