Hey guys whatsup?
needed help with reducing noise for japanese anime.
I want to now how to use avisynth using

SpatialSoften(radius,luma_threshold,chroma_threshold,clip) or
TemporalSoften(radius,luma_threshold,chroma_threshold,clip)

Which one should I use and what do the settings and do and how do they effect the final result. I'm attaching two pictures so you guys can see what I'm talking about. What would u suggest the values I should use for reducing noise wihtout loosing detail. Thanks a lot.

DBZ is quite difficult to encode (0,8 bit/pixel with quality based 100%!!!)
I recommend BilinearResizing + TemporalSmoother(2)
and a bitrate higher than 0,3 bit/pixel using B-Frames & GMC in DivX5 PRO.
This should give a decent result.

You also may use vdub Filters like 2d clean or SmartSmootherHQ
2d bring good quality medium proc. time.
SS HQ bring best quelity high procesing time.

But remember ALWAYS use the lower threshols/radiums that reduce your noise or you can wash out the textures and background(anyway DBZ not have any detail in backgrounds :D )

for this kind of noise, the typical noise reduction I use is the TMPEGEnc Noise Reduction....

yeah it's not avsynth , so slow (1-2fps with P3 533 and my XP 1600+ - looks like it needs some optimization ^^; - ) but it's gave the best result you can hope...
