View Full Version : Ugly Blocks on all key frames

xvid settings:
motion search precision - 5
quantization type: mpeg
fourcc: xvid
maximum I-Frame interval: 300
min I-Frame interva: 6

the second pass i left everything as is, all other setting remain default. the problem is that on every keyframe and a few frames after the picture is all blocked and pixelized (right word?). Here is a sample. (http://www.geocities.com/psxfiles21/)
the top picture is a keyframe, the one beneath is just a few frames later. can anyone identify the problem?

do you have used "luma masking" and "hinted me" in your options? if it is so, you will have to deactivate it (i've got really the same problem).

no, both options were unchecked. i'm encoding to 2 cds so i didn't think i needed them.

It couldn't be an obvious mistake, like that you used a .stats- or mv-hint-file from a different encoding-session? Can happen when you don't do the 2nd right after the first pass, so please don't think I take you for stupid.

As for other possible sources of the problem, curve-settings and maximum bitrate setting spring to mind.
