I have a simple question which might require a complex answer. Here is my goal:
I wish to take a normal DVD, rip just the main movie to keep things simple, and then remaster the dvd so that it has all the swear words, sex, gross violence, etc taken out. I want my kids to be able to watch some great films without all the stuff that will mess up their mind. I'm fine with just skipping the small one or two second segments to accomplish this.
I don't want to lose any quality on the movie, and thus wish to avoid any reencoding if possible.
I've been trying to get this to work using Scenarist, but I keep getting remux errors. Is there a program that can author dvds that accepts VOB files instead of demuxed files? For some reason - Scenarist doesn't give me errors on the first demuxed VOB, but it does on subsequent demuxed VOBS. Sometimes it won't even accept the demuxed video and ac3.
I've tried this on 3 different DVDs, all of which are pretty simple dvds.
Any ideas? Am I even headed in the right direction?
Thanks a ton!
