Kudos and praises go out to -h and foxer :D CBR is awsome at low bitrate!!!! not to mention it's a tad faster as well.

Glad ya like it :)
tried to make it acceptable.. the old one was just so cbr would stick to the bitrate heh

@foxer
Once again, thanks.
Just one question or perhaps two: What are the ranges for the two added mode in CBR option? Currently they are default at 100 each. Playing around with these numbers, I can see extreme improvement and garbage outputs. Furthermore, I see them directly affecting the quantizers (I-frame/P-frame) settings.

There are no set ranges. Just use what you like heh
The higher the averaging period, the longer it will take to adapt to a new scene's intensity. This has the effect of resisting using really high quants in a sudden intense scene but it also accumulates overflow which will eventually force it to use higher quants and also cause it to be a little reluctant to use low quants when the video returns to a normal pace.
The larger the buffer, the more deviation can be allowed, the longer it waits before using higher quants in an intense scene and the longer it takes before it starts using the quality it would want to use without any overflow in a following slow scene.

@wing1,
How good it could be ? and at which bitrate ?

@foxer
Ok, thanks.

The default settings are already good enough. I have pushed it to 750 and tweak the heck out of it :D. Currently I am using 935 with CBR option at 16/60/120 which provides optimal result for me with quantizer at I-frame 1/5 and P-frame 1/15. Data rate flows at 112-119Kb/s, and this will give me 1 CD per movie :D

This latest update is seriously very good. To see how good I tried looking at old encodes done say 1 month ago. What a huge difference in the last few weeks and especially over the last few days. Well done.
For a 2 pass encode, I ran the first pass with the version of codec dated ~5th April, then noticed the latest update ~15th April. So not possessing a great deal of patience, I did the second pass with that. The result was very impressive.... Xvid is very good.
Will there be a detailed update to the user guidelines soon? I want to see if there is more explanation on some of the options (e.g. alt curve settings and influence of parameters.....). Some of this is still way over my head and it is very hard to see what the influence of all these parameters have.
