Near success- fast forward does not work properly

My second attemp at making a DVD-R from VOBs taken from DIFFERENT DVDs is a limited sucess. For the most part my compilation DVD-R plays fine, but when I use the fast forward scan above 2X, it tends to scan the wrong chapters or lock up the player. Here is the methodology I used to make it:

1. Trim out the parts of VOBs I don't like using vStrip Gui.(I found a neat way to use vStip Gui to edit VOBs!)

2. Rename the various VOBs:
vts_01_001.vob
vts_01_002.vob
...all the way up to vts_01_017.vob

3. Join the VOBs using VobEdit. The result is:
vts_01_1.vob
vts_01_2.vob
vts_01_3.vob
vts_01_4.vob
vts_01_5.vob

4. Use Ifo Edit to make a set of IFO files for the new VOBs.

5. Select each IFOs and press "Get VTS sectors" then save.

6. Burn with Nero 5.5.7.8 using the settings in the tutorial on this site.



Interestingly enough, the first DVD-R I made worked just fine, however I did not trim any of the VOBs, and all VOBs were from the same DVD.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Your problem are wrong Navigation-pointers in the VOB files itself!

You must use IfoEdit to correct the VobUnit navigation pointers, then it will work!

To correct them, simply use the Strip Stream or strip vob-id's option in IfoEdit. Of course you won't select to strip any stream or vob-id, but let it process anyway. It will correct all pointers though.

Thanks. That seemed to have helped the first few chapters, but fast forwarding of the later chapters is still erratic or nonfuntional.

Here is how I attemped to correct the navigation pointers:
1. I went back to the folder where I had my five VOBs I had joined with VobEdit.

2. I openened "vts_01_0.ifo" with IfoEdit and pressed the "VOB Extras" button.

3. I put a check mark by the "Strip VobId's" box ("Correct vob-unit pointers in vob files" was also checked)

4. On the "Stream List" dialog box that pops up I left all IDs UNCHECKED and pressed the "Strip It" button.

5. After IfoEdit created the new VOBs in a different directory, I simply used the "Creat IFOs" button to make the remaining files I needed for a readable DVD.

It's certainly an improvement, but I must be missing something.
