View Full Version : Strange artifact after muxing DivX5.0.1 video with audio

This is my first experience with DivX5 ripping.

Have been trying to get Miss Congeniality on one CD - difficult using DivX3.11a. Got a reasonable result at 480x256 with DivX5.0.1, but after I muxed this with mp3, the video had a 9 mm stripe (15" monitor)down the right hand side, as though a smoked filter had been placed there. You could see the picture in this strip, but it was darker than the rest of the picture.

Also when I played the muxed AVI on WMP6.4, at the very beginning, a frame from deep within the picture would flash on then off for a split second, before the AVI started playing properly - have never seen this with DivX3.11a.

Any comments?

I don't think this have anything to do with multiplexing.
This has with encoding to do I guess. You may post the AVS you were using and the settings you used in DivX5.

it has nothing to do with multiplexing and it has also nothing to do with the avs script! i dont know why, but the divx 5.0.1 came with a bug (dark stripe on the right side).

Doh!:D You guys were right. It was present even before muxing - so impressed was I with the video quality I didn't notice.

Anyone get the split second flash of a random frame from somewhere in the movie, when playback first starts?

I've uninstalled 5.0.1 and installed 5.0 - hope it does not occur there. Also I hear 5.0.1 encodes won't play under 5.0. Hmmm... not impressive

thanx
