I’m currently ripping Trigun, which is an Anime series. Ripping movies I have no problems with, but this is giving me some troubles for two main reasons:
1. I would encode it as I would a movie and cut it into 3 parts, but I since I use vbr mp3 I can’t cut it into 3 pieces when the encode is done (unless there is a way to do this that I am missing).
2. I haven’t seen it all yet, so I’m trying extremely hard not to get any spoilers. I know the chapter offsets so I know exactly where to cut, and I’m going 75min/cd so bitrate isn’t a problem, but some processes that might be better become unfeasible because they would require me actually watching it first.
Anyways, here is my horrendously long encode process. Someone please tell me how I can cut out a few steps! Note: I could care less about how much CPU time it takes, but this process just takes way too much of my time.
#1. Load up smartripper, rip the entire dvd.
#2. Use Headac3he to get a .wav to work with. Use Lame to convert the .wav into a .mp3 (R3MIX preset) so I calculate how much room I have for video. Then delete the .mp3 since it is now useless to me.*
#3. Create a .d2v file with dvd2avi.
#4. Use avisynth for mpeg2dec and Decomb filters, and do the resize here.
#5. Load up virtualdub, load up the .avs, apply the last three filters (smart smoother, vobsub, and warpsharp). Set up divx, set the audio source to my .wav, and start the encode.
#6. Split the finished .avi into my three episodes.
#7. Rip the audio from my .avi’s, and use lame to encode them to mp3.
#8. Use nandub to combine my .avi’s and .mp3’s into the final product.
I know there has to be a better way to do this. Can someone please help me?
* The Trigun dvd’s don’t have the chapters and episodes matching up exactly, so making 3 separate ac3 files is useless.
