My configuration:
- Windows ME english
- DirectX 8.1
- WinDVD 3.1 DTS (ISO)
- PowerDVD XP 4.0 (retail)
The issue:
I downloaded the other day an svcd compliant clip to test if I can play it correctly from my hard disk. With PowerDVD + WinDVD, no problem, it plays fine. I then tried to check if I can play it with DirectShow based players. Almost total failure there: I managed to play it only with BSPlayer (it says it uses the M$ mpeg2 splitter and the Intervideo a/v decoder), in all other players I checked (WiMP 6.4, Zoom, Radlight, MicroDVD), the mpg file is loaded, audio starts playing but the screen gets totally black immediately and the computer freezes (I have to reset, not even ctrl-alt-del works...) I then tried with a ripped decrypted vob file from my hard disk. Same thing: PowerDVD + WinDVD no problem, computer frozen with all other DS based players.
It seems the filters are somehow screwed up. The ones I have registered in c:\windows\system are the following:
1. lmpgspl.ax - Ligos mpeg splitter v3.0.0.17, 94208 bytes
2. mpeg2decoder.ax - Ligos mpeg decoder v1.3.0.82, 139264 bytes
3. mpeg2parser.ax - Ligos mpeg parser v1.3.0.81, 94208 bytes
4. mpg2splt.ax - Microsoft mpeg2 splitter v6.3.1.881, 149504 bytes
Could you perhaps understand from the list above if I am missing something? I checked the latest Tsunami filter pack 3.9.3 (which I have not installed, except for the famous Microcrap mpeg4 v1, 2, 3 codecs) and there I noticed that Tsunami gives a warning:
- Ligos mpeg splitter 1.3.0.81 (incl. seek patch): when this option is activated, you better de-activate Ligos mpeg splitter 3.0.0.17
- Ligos mpeg splitter 3.0.0.17 (incl. seek patch): when this option is activated, you better de-activate Ligos mpeg splitter 1.3.0.81
Could this be the problem?
